Roush axle backs to raspy

I just took my touch mufflers off because they were to raspy and I'm putting them on my girlfriends car. Once I put on the BBK shorty headers and catted x pipes it got to raspy. What mufflers should I get so that it won't sound like that? I considered the pypes deletes, but I'm not sure. Suggestions?

Xpipes produce rasp and lots of it. Most mufflers will have rasp with these motors on an xpipe but the most common to run with the xpipe seems to be the frpp sport exhaust and Borla. Trident and Mac.

YouTube has some good clips to get an idea. 6 cylinders have a tendency to get raspy no matter what's on them

The shorty headers will actually remove some rasp and deepen the tone. Your issue is the xpipe.

Xpipes sound like u tossed nails in a blender unless you do a lot of exhaust mods and play around with it a ton to get rid of the rasp but by the time u do that you probably restricted the exhaust enough to loose the 3/5 hp u gained by going xpipe in the first place. So u have to ask yourself. What's more important

Those 3/5 hp. Or having a good sounding car.

I was reading an add for a used 3.7 a couple of years ago where the seller even stated that the X-Pipe & Mufflers was why he was selling it. He even mentioned New Owner adding resonators to quiet it down. Way too much Information. I agree with 20prima10, H Pipe or add a more restrictive Muffler / Magnaflow streets sound great on mine, but it's still stock from Head to the Axle back.

My car is roush ab with shorty headers. I love the sound of it.

Everyone one this forum will tell u they love there setup. It all depends on what you like. It's your car man. I've heard and installed a lot of setups and there's a lot I like.

Personally I love the sound that shorty headers will add to the car and the low end bump.

For h or x. I wud go h pipe for sound

Axle backs um. There's to damn many that sound great to pic from. They can all sound really good or really bad depending on your wants likes and how and what you install/pair them with.

I've used these. They do sound decent but don't add any power

Hmm.. I'm part of a v6 group on Facebook for the Texas area and they are always trying parts, maybe someone will trade my x pipe for their h pipe. But I wasn't happy with the stock pipes. I'll give that a shot. Thanks! I knew the x pipe makes it raspy, I just didn't know if there were any axle backs that's would deepen the tone and kill the rasp. I guess not. Oh well its still a head turner even with the roushes.

Has anyone tried their stock mufflers with an aftermarket midpipe?

I feel like that might help the best.

I've considered giving that a shot. I have a few set ups laying around due to me and my friends constantly ordering new stuff to try. I've thought about trying completely stock with just shorty headers just to see what it does.

I'm in a plane right now so the wifi isn't the greatest. Is there a YouTube video with anyone with headers/midpipe and stock mufflers?

Not that I have seen. I'll be honest I really want to try this but I don't want to unbolt my set up just to try something for 30 seconds lol. I'm going to try and convince my friend to do it on his.

I think the dog is hinting that the exhaust sounds "ruff"

I just finally recorded my car from the outside today. Roush ABs, Steeda CAI and running the 93 octane race tune.

http://youtu.be/scRclvYNFYg

Next up to add is BBK TB and shorties. Without knowing to much about cars I ended up so far to this point ended up with the exact sound I wanted, TB should deepen the growl a little more too.

Tb won't do anything for you. Just so u know most of us feel like it's an expensive paper weight lol.

Spend that money elsewhere. The shorties will deepen it a decent amount and give you more low end grunt.

Spend your money on that and a tune from mpt. You'll be much happier that way

They sound even better with shorty headers on it. That's my setup

Roush ab with bbk shorties and i love the sound. I've not heard one I like more but it's all personally preference. A lot of people like the Borla sex trumpets. I don't dislike them they sound great. I just like the roush better. When my roush rust off I will go with borlas. Roush has terrible corrosion issues. Mine are less than a year old. Never see snow or rain. Always garage kept and have a good amount of corrosion already
