Superchargers

So guys I've seen a few of you with procharger systems and today saw a YT video from ThatDudeInBlue and he reviewed a V6 with a tidal wave supercharger system done by a shop in virginia. Any of you ever heard of this thing and maybe have some thoughts on the difference between that and a PC system? I don't have FI yet but I do consider it in the future to have a sleeper V6

There was a thread about the tidal wave super charger on this forum somewhere a while back. I don't know if it got anywhere though, no one ever heard of it until then. I'd still say the pro charger is proven already and would be better choice than the tidal wave one.

I like the blower placement of the tidal wave kit and the extras he is including into his introductory price for the 3.7 kit.

The blower behind the tidalwave kit is a vortech v3, hardly an unknown quantity. Powerwise and cost wise the 2 are both very comparable.

But the real question is, I guess, Is their a real incentive to get one over the other? As in is the vortech v3 a better supercharger than the procharger one, or is it easier to wrench power out of one over the other?

The head units are very similar, you're likely going to be grasping for straws at the end to notice a difference.

In that case, if you voltwings was going to pick one to get which one do you think you would prefer?

i'd stay NA and save myself the trouble lol. That being said, i have literally no experience or exposure to the tidalwave kit so it would be hard to say one way or the other.

Lol, I guess that is one way to look at it. But I have heard superchargers don't cause a whole lot of trouble as long as you keep them at a reasonable boost lvl. I would want around 400rwhp out of mine if I bought one, and since I have my lt headers, I don't think I would have that much trouble getting that, do you?

Not at all, but that ^^ is usually the problem haha. It starts at 400, but then you get used to it and a pulley change isnt that hard to get a little more. Then a little more, then a little more. Been there, done that, wasted a lot of money lol.

I'm not sure if you answered last time I asked, what power level did you get your Mazda to? If I recall correctly it was twin turboed right?

Ive always read that vortechs run cooler than prochargers equivalent head units. I dont know if that would matter or not on the smaller head units our cars would use.

This is what I am afraid of. But this is where self control will play a big part. After October we can both add "Installed Procharger on 2014 V6" on our resumes. lol

Do any of us have self control when it comes to our cars?

I usually get older vehicles that creep up next to me then try to take off all quick. I just lightly press the gas and go on my merry way. lol

Single, 2.3L 4 cylinder. My first turbo was a Garrett GT3071r making 460/440. The second - which ruined it honestly - was a GTx3576r making ... it was like 490 whp and low 400s for torque.

At the time we only had one headstud option and right after i did my build we found out our batch of ARPs was defective and they would let go right around 500 whp, so i never pushed it higher. The rest of the car was set up to handle well over 600. Except the FWD and all haha.

Well my cousin has a 2011 Camaro SS, and I want to be comparable to his car, maybe even a little faster. He is all stock atm, but he will be getting a CAI,tune, and borla Stypes soon.

If I had the moola I would go with this kit. It's relatively popular with the Charger/Challenger v6 crowd, plus the shop making these kits are a highly reputable place in the area (I live close by them). One thing I never liked about the prochargers is the noise they make from both the headunit and the supplied fan, the Vortechs are decently quiet which is what I'd prefer. Stealthy and deadly
