3.7 project shadow

So I'm going to be going with a twin turbo set up from jack markgraf at twisted turbo technologies soon and seeing how everyone else has their turbo/pro charger thread, I wanted one lol

if anyone was curious, going to be using two 5931 precision turbos

First question I have

Is it worth it to upgrade coils?

Second

Turbo blankets.. Yes or no? Why?

Also what about maintenance? I know there is a lot more required with FI

I could probably ask the shop but I don't want to annoy them with all these newbie questions lol

Im not familiar with the 5931, but if it works how most other precision turbos do, thats an odd size. Any reason why you went with those?
No, the stock coils are fine.

Turbo blankets are good. In layman's terms they let the turbo work better and keep engine bay heat down.

Maintenance is going to depend on a LOT of things, including but not limited to: how you drive the car, how much power, if the turbos are water and oil cooled or just oil ... give us more info, theres no such thing as too much.

The shop was gonna go with a 55mm but I asked if they could order 59mm. They picked the 5931s. I'll ask and see why those

Stock! Cool! Thank you lol

Would any turbo blanket be fine? Or certain brand I should go with?

I daily my car. I drive a bit aggressively sometimes, but mostly cruise in it. I know after the install and tune I might be a bit more aggressive with it lol should easily make 500 but I might ask the tuner to keep the power down a bit. Probably around 470 ish..

So the turbos are 5931
With a 57 mm turbine wheel

And it will be oil cooled

For how much your probable spending on the build with the shop I wouldn't feel bad at all at getting a list of questions and asking them to sit down so you have clear answers so you fully understand what is being done and what kind of maintenance is required so you don't have any issues. I would just avoid calling every 5 minutes with one off questions.

I know several people who had shops do builds for them and the good shops in my area have always taken the time to sit down with the customer and explain everything and answer any questions. If the shop wasn't willing to do this it would be a red flag to find somewhere else to spend my money.

Not to say this site isn't a good place to learn but as someone mentioned every build is slightly different so if you don't fully understand what they are doing outside of 'I want X amount of HP' I would make sure it is explained so your fully aware.

PTP is a good brand turbo blanket. If you want max heat protection you could get a PTP turbo Lava blanket. I went with the PTP universal black turbo blanket for my turbo and it fits perfect.

I'm sure jack wouldn't have a problem answering any questions I have. So far he's been very helpful but I randomly think of questions and don't want to annoy him at 2 in the morning haha

Plus with this thread I can easily go back though the info if I needed compared to calling for an answer.

And I could update the progress on the kit

So I just bought an aeroforce interceptor gauge because I found good a deal on one

Does anyone have any experience with this gauge? And the boost sensor for it? Trying to see if I should go with the boost sensor or get a separate boost gauge?

Mine sometimes have that problem. Ill go to bed and then when I wake up for look I wondered why is there a blue light in my car? It only has the problem of not shutting off every now and then. Didn't seem to drain the battery at all. Now I simply just unplug my gauges after every cruise and don't worry, it saves your settings.

Sounds like your using the wrong wire for a remote wire. Try pulling it straight from your ignition harness so that you know it's got the proper power wire running to it.
