I have the upper control arm and bracket too. If your lowered then you might want to get relocation brackets for the lowers. I've heard the upper sometimes helps more than the lowers.

You need an all around setup. With mine I should be able to be low 13 if not high 12 in good conditions.... but since right now where I live at night it is usually 85-95 degrees with 80% humidity usually until winter comes

I am pretty sure the Camaro was modded. It ended the 1/4 mile 1 second quicker then me and at 107 mph. Whereas, I ended at 104. I have drove a 2011 Camaro RS and while it did feel like they had some pep to them, I can't imagine any more then a stock Mustang.

Awesome post, Cook, thanks for sharing!

I watch my powertrain temps regularly with my cylinders running 211 at it's hottest in 95 degree heat and driving hard. Before I switched to Purple it would hit 224 in the same conditions, so I think I'm good to go there.

My question for you is, what is a "danger zone" temp for our transmission?

When racing the car, the trans would hit 190 degrees. So i would say anything higher then that. When daily driving in the TX heat, I am usually around 180 degrees. I noticed the car gets better runs if I can get to the line while the trans is still cool (around 160-165 degrees), but that rarely happens.

My Cylinder temp is always around 205-210. I run royal purple oil. I also tried the royal purple "Purple Ice" coolant additive. Let's just say it doesn't work. Lol. Said it makes a 10-15 degree change with the engine but it still runs just as hot.

Definitely want to invest in a Transmission Cooler if you are Auto.

Have you tried the synthetic tranny fluid? Ive heard good things but never tried it. I will prob switch to some fancy syn at 20k so I will note heat numbers before and after.

(Automatic) Transmission fluid is hydraulic just like brakes or power steering, really the only time it will fail is if it boils or gets contaminates.

Well I went to a performance shop and they said Ford already puts their own Synthetic fluid in the Auto Trans when they make them. Is that correct?

Because I asked if it was worth swapping to a synthetic fluid to help it out and he said I would be wasting my money at this point.

The Ford motocraft engine oil is crap, seen many Blackstone labs analysis of it breaking down, shearing, just not really holding up to the rigors of a high performance vehicle.

Ford's drivetrain oils and fluids however, are very nice. The (Manual) transmission oil is a very popular upgrade on certain mazda platforms, their diff fluid is good, so i would assume the synthetic transmission fluid is good as well. The stuff is also like $10 a quart and the transmission has a 12 quart sump or something like that, wouldnt be a cheap swap.

Thanks for clarifying. So I, and anyone else, would be wasting there money if they swapped the fluid at less then 60k miles or w/e.

Very good intel on the tranny fluid... I will not waste my $ at this point. I do plan on getting it changed every 30k just to protect my investment but I will take it to Ford to make sure they use their stuff.

Fyi I just did a normal city drive for 30 mins and hit 187 on my tranny temp. Its only 85 out today so I hope thats normal. Lol

Yea mine gets in the 180s when driving for that long also. No worries. If you want to protect your investment, get a trans cooler. Keeping it cool will help prolong the life. It is beneficial for every day driving and ESPECIALLY if you ever want to race.
