Hello

My car performs better with a tune.

How much faster ? No idea and don't care as it will get me a ticket in a heartbeat.

I have an automatic 2014 PP 3.7 with 3.31 gears and it felt like it was being seriously held back due to the crappy slush granny tune the factory has in it.

I researched for a couple weeks and decided to just get the SCT tuner from Amazon and try out the pre-loaded tune to see if it was worth it (Amazon prime takes nearly everything back if you don't like it). So I got my SCT a couple weeks ago and I followed the directions to a tee and chose the 91 octane tune with my 3.31 gears and stock airbox (I think CAIs are a gimmick).

Like others have stated, it made my Mustang feel like a totally different car. Gone were the extremely lazy shifts and "overthinking" when shifting. My traction control now actually kicks in and my Stang shifts without flaw and is firm but not so firm that I worry about wear on the tranny.

I ran a 6.4 60 a couple weeks before the tune and still need to run it again, but I can already tell my car is at least a half second faster. Now you ask what that means... it means it's 7%-10% faster. Seems more worth it looking at it that way huh?

My advice is if you don't have crazy mods and you just have a CAI, gears, etc, try the SCT tune by itself first. I couldn't be more happy that I did.

so, I have no desire to pay more for 91 or anything, so I'm staying at regular. if i got a tune, is there a regular tune that will increase power as well? or do they all mainly want you to go to premium?

Stock tuned you can only achieve light... or maybe ridiculous speed. Tuned you will go straight to plaid.

Sure you will benefit from a tune even with 87. However the gains won't be nearly as noticeable as going to a 91/93 tune.

This. And with 91 it's only $3.00 more a tank fill. You car will run cleaner and you'll prob get an extra mile to the gallon.

My advice is try the 91 tune for a few weeks then you can change it to 87 and see which one you prefer.

I have a thread somewhere with slips.

14.4 seconds @ 99 mph with stock tune with 87 octane.

13.6 @ 103 with MPT 93r tune.

The only thing changed was the tune. No other mods.

EDIT:

This form sucks at linking to other threads. Just google "mustang Vig at the track". Should be the first few hits.

Pretty close to a second. .8 of a second is a good chunk though.

I can't think of many modifications you can do for under $400 that will net you as much of a gain as a tune does.
