First to say the new Camaro looks just like a Ford Fusion!

At this point, I'm not sure I'd touch another Mustang if someone gave me one for free!

Out of curiosity, what issues have you had? I've only owned mine for a few months and I would like to know what to keep my eyes open for. Thanks in advance!

You can get a manual transmission for that price.

So you said you went to a tranny specialist for all of this. Having seen transmission issues every day, did they offer ANY theories as to how all this got damaged in the first place?

Do you have a tune on your car and if so at how many miles did you install it? I only ask because I have the SCT tune and while I love it I am a bit uneasy about how the new "firm" shifting is going to affect the long term life of my tranny.

No real idea...they think manufacturing defect. The car was abused by a stealership when it was in for warranty work a while ago, so I wonder if it got damaged then.

No tune. I just have a relay to clear the adaptive shift memory with each ignition cycle (equivalent to the fuse 47 pull)...don't see how that could be related.

Yeah that shouldn't have caused anything other than your Mustang staying fast. lol

Punks could have done hard neutral drops on her when they had it, that would definitely do some damage. And since you can rev with the brake on, I wouldn't be surprised if that's what they resorted to.

I'm going to need Xanax if I ever have to leave my car with a shop.

Though if they neutral dropped it (about the only way to break an A/T), I would have expected the trans skip to find more obvious signs of damage. I'm happy to live with the mystery if the damn thing will just work.

Through all this, the trans shifts perfectly.

Car is back at the transmission shop this AM. They comped a rental, and I did ask them to expedite the repair as much as possible.

Have the car back. Was a bad trans pan gasket...they think the tech might have overtightened one of the bolts.

So no cleansing fire today...

good, hopefully that's it for a while

and by "bad gasket" they meant "we made a mistake" but I stress to folks we all make mistakes it's how you deal with it that determines who you are.

Very true. No charge (I would have said something if they had tried), and handled professionally by their front desk staff.

Let's hope something else doesn't bust before 10/24.

Hood installation is scheduled for Monday, too!

And to provide a happy ending, I just cashed a check that covers 70% of my total repair costs, as the trans repair was considered an "emergency repair," which is what's necessary to get Ford to approve issuing funds. The funds are sent to a local dealer that then cuts the customer a check. It took about 3 months, but fortunately I found a good dealer (not the one I bought my car from) with a warranty administrator that was on his game. I made a point of finding out who his boss was and sending some words of praise, as the guy does deserve a pat on the back.
