Odd Question on 2011 Head Lights

So I am browsing Ford's 2011 Mustang Brochure to get more familiar with what they originally offered on the 2011. Since I own a 2011 again, I always like to surround myself with information pertaining to what I own.

I get down to page....idk 24? And come across they advertise HID Head Lamps for these cars. Didn't these come with Halogens? (V6, GT, and GT500)

I don't even recall Ford offering the HIDs as standard equipment until 2013. Can someone maybe clarify?

http://www.ford.com/services/assets/...stalCode=33602

I even tried looking at Ford's Accessory site for the 2011 and saw no mention of this....2011 Ford Mustang Electronics Accessories | The Official Site for Ford Accessories

Maybe this is an advertising mishap?

Are they the same ones AM offers? Or can you still buy these elsewhere?

Hey Kev
1) You don't like used stuff.
2) Xenon gas-filled bulbs are different than Xenon HID bulbs.
That's about all I know on the subject.

I know. I was just using that item in the link as an example as I wasn't 100% sure if that was the Ford option type item.

What I am also trying to find, is if you were to install these on a Halogen equipped 2011, if anything would need to be rewired.

The 2011-2012 Shelby came with HID headlights as an option. They do not have the 2 running lights built in though, only the HID headlight. They look like this. Click image for larger version

My 2012 GT has the factory HID option. So much brighter than the standard lights.

My '13 V6 Premium has them too. So bright that at night sometimes drivers in the opposite lane flash their high beams because they think I left mine on! Then I flash them the *real* high beams in response...

They were a standard feature from 2013 on. We're talking about the 2010-12s.

After a bit of googling, check out post #20 of this thread:
OEM HID Headlight Install question

I can't see the pics at work, but it appears he got this accomplished successfully.
