Rear speaker replacement for 2014 convertible

Just took possession of a beautiful 2014 V6 convertible.
It has the Shaker 500 audio package; and I was wondering before I start removing panels if anyone has had success mounting a 6.5 in speaker in the 6x8 opening. The rear speakers being beside the rear bench as the ragtop doesn't have a rear deck.
I've found conflicting info about whether or not the Scosche sa68 adapter will actually fit the factory holes. I have pair of Kicker 41DSC654 6.5's that I pulled from the door of my previous car and would love to use them in the Mustang if possible!

Do you know if your rears are 2 or 4 ohm? I thought I had read somewhere that the 14's had 2 ohm rears where previous models had 4 ohm rears. Of course, I have no recollection where I read that. It could have been any one of the 4 or 5 Mustang forums that I follow.

I would assume that the factory headunit would be 4ohms all around. I know higher end models can toggle between 4 or 2 ohms; but not mix the two, unless the rear channel is used specifically as a subwoofer channel.

I was floored that this headunit doesn't even have a mid-range EQ setting! That would help alleviate the muddiness from the front door woofers.

Crutchfield doesn't seem to know there are rear speakers at all for this car!

Upper door and rear speakers are 4 ohms. Door subs are 2 ohm DVC.

The issue with the adapter isn't whether it will fit the opening, but whether it will fit whatever speaker you are going to put into it due to the size of the opening in it.

Additionally, there is a whole section devoted to this, and it should have been posted in there :: http://www.mustangevolution.com/forum/f169/

The factory head unit directs 75% to the front speakers. I just swapped mine out with Infintys and what a difference.
