Whining belt

Does anyone else have a little whining noise when they first start up, I assume it's just dust on the belt belt but I've sprayed down the belts and let's it dry for about an hour and still the same noise.

I believe this is the belt tensioner. There is a TSB on it, if I remember correctly.

It's a TSB and I got away from paying by telling them it should be under the drivetrain warranty.

A 2-3' length of hose/tube makes a great mechanics stethoscope for isolating noise sources...just be careful.

I have never had this. But if my car did this, I would pop the hood, and tell the car very firmly "Stop whining, before I give you something to REALLY whine about....".

If you still have warranty, maybe take it in.

LOL, I am also in IT hence the Angry and Tech as well. My daily opener when dealing with phone support. "Have you tried turning it off and on again?"

LOL! I'll need to try that. I hear ya. I'm the lead IT and the only thing I don't like it's that I have more work/tickets waiting for me on Monday morning. Also I like how we hijacked this thread. Lol. Sorry fellas, now we're whinning Kev.

Sadly, I can go on and on about the negatives before I even start to scratch the positives. I to am an IT Admin for my companies Austin office. I am the only person they have here for their IT needs.

Agreed! But it's a thankless job. They only care if it works or not. If it doesn't, fix it! This is probably why we prefer to speak to machines instead. Lol!

Very true! Had to take this type of job. I wanted to go into the automotive field but hurt my lower back.

Probably from yelling at all of the whinny belts. I love this field. We'll always be needed. Like cooks and Dr's.

yep, I can't imagine they could outsource IT. and I also have done some reading on the robotic interface Dr's which is kinda interesting. I've got to say cook is one of the few fields I don't see a lot of outsourcing in (except chain restaurant cooks).

my field is OK at best: Industrial Technician I fix machinery including robotics and interface systems (jack of all master of none) but at least I enjoy it.

I hope we answered the original question.

LOL! true, but when the phones and Interwebs go down at home, lets fly them out here, feed them, and put them up in hotels. Or we can call Kevin.Cook to save the day even before they board their flight.

Back to the original topic. Mine does do this when I've driven somewhere, then about 10-15 min later, start her up and then I get the whinnying. Does go away after I drive off.
