S types vs Ataks

ok, so I've got ataks.. b ut I've never heard stingers in person. from every video I've seen, the stingers sound identical to my ataks. like, i can't hear a difference at all. it sounds just as aggressive and loud as the ATAK.

who here can explain the difference in tone? because I def cannot hear a difference for the life of me. I bought ataks because i got a great deal on a used set, but prior to that i wanted stingers. I'm still contemplating stingers, but every time I listen, they seem just as loud as my ataks!

I had both. The ATAKs are definitely louder, not obnoxious but they are louder. Personally I didn't care for them. I switched back to the S Types. I think they are the best for our Mustangs. I swapped over to some GT500 quads and so far this is the best exhaust I've heard in a3.7.

I would only go with the BORLA ATAKS's that are "Multi Tubed" inside, almost identical to the original Borla XR1 Muffler (NOT THE SPORTSMAN VERSION).
They (XR1) are the very best sounding and performing mufflers money can buy. And they do cost a ton of cash!
Borla creates different versions of mufflers for different types of power plants, so they can vary & sometimes you may have to purchase a set of "stand alone" mufflers instead of an axle-back or cat-back.
Make Sense?? Hope So!

I've owned both and the ATAKs are definitely louder. To me, they are obnoxious. The s-types
are perfect for my taste. A lot more mellow compared to the ATAKs. Describing the sound is kind of tough, but I'm sure many people will agree that the s-types sound like a bunch of sex trumpets.

Is this a bolt on kit or did you have to make them fit? I'd love to have quad tips!

No it's not bolt on. First you have to cut the rear bumper and the mufflers need to be welded. It's worth it though.

Yeah, I knew you had to cut the bumper but wasn't sure about the exhaust itself. So, you just had GT500 mufflers welded onto your existing over the axle pipes?

Sorry to hijack, but does Borla make a quad tip for our V6 stinger axle backs , or can other tips be made to work?

they're not clamp on tips.. they're welded on, so unless you actually cut them off and weld something else on, no its not easy to do that.

Have you listened to Borla's video?

Listen to them side by side at about the 25 sec point.

yeah i've seen that. their mics and recording setup are god awful and clip like crazy.

their videos suck for actual tone/volume of what these exhausts should sound like.

Or you could get a gt catback and weld the overaxles on and be able to run any gt axleback system including the gt500 mufflers

Anyone know a good place to get a GT500 catback (ie, not too expensive)?

you can find the single tips for around $200-250 and the quad tips for $300-400 on eBay. Also, keep an eye out on craigslist in you area/surrounding areas.

Looking for quad tips. Haven't seen anything good on ebay or Craigslist. Maybe I'm not searching right.

ATAKs are way louder under full throttle.

I heard both and bought the Stingers after I heard them in person.
