Test drove GT...

I thought it would be much better- that I was missing out. I'm keeping my 2012 performance package...

The sound was really nice, and in all fairness it was a GT base model, but it was " soft" compared to my car and really didn't accelerate that much faster. Keeping the V6 !

Needs a tune for sure. I drove a 2015 5.0 with the PP. Definitely needs at least a tune.

Still can't beat that v8 sound though...

These threads do make me lol.
Your just trying to keep yourself happy with your v6.
If you can't tell a difference you can't drive.

Well, in a 5 minute test drive it was. My car's got 3:31 gears and takes off pretty fast. In a town driving situation it was hard to tell. Coming from a stiff PP car to a base GT... just isn't worth the extra 5K. Rather throw a Procharger on what I have. Not knocking the GT, but I think people under value what a proper V6 can do.

Even the procharged v6 isn't as fast as a stock coyote.

Rapinator... my V6 handles better than the base GT I just tested. Of course no one can beat your driving skills - why do we normal people even have cars... we should just hire pros like you to drive us around What's you taxi rate per mile?

Yea they are awesome regardless. You could imagine my disappointment when I couldnt trade my Cylone in for a 2015 5.0.

That V8 sound was breathtaking. Lol

And i test drove my dream one. A 2015 comp orange 5.0 w/ manual transmission and the GT PP.

My first mod would be a tune though.

For now I will just envy you 5.0 guys. Just do me a favor and give me a rev if I ever see you. LOL!

I could care less about handling. My response was the speed of the car.

And you can't afford me. So take a seat in the punk a$$ section.

Don't get me wrong guys I'm not saying the GT isn't an great car ( love the sound)... what I am saying is having driven one just now- I'm not trading my car for it. It's a nice feeling to like what you have best... the grass isn't always greener

I will admit the automatics in the 5.0's are less than impressive but same in the 3.7. The automatic needs an aftermarket tune badly. The V8 sound is great when exhaust mods are done. They need to be catless and set of good axlebacks. In stock format, the sound is very weak and could barely hear the car when accelerating. My father has a 2014 CS 5.0 and just got a pair of aftermarket axlebacks because the rumble of the V8 was nothing impressive with the factory axlebacks.

I do like the sport mode the 13-14's have on the automatics and dropping it into second while doing 50 mph and nailing it. That sucker pulled like a freight train.

Op, I think we can all agree that the 3.7 is no slouch and we are more than happy with them, but to honestly say there really isn't a nice size difference between the two??? If you take a stock 3.31 3.7 and a stock 3.31 5.0 your going to feel a big difference.

That's like a 2010 owner saying there isn't a real difference between the 4.0 and 3.7 V6, and that's like only an 95 hp difference.

Fastford, you can email me at austin@wildislandresorts.com if you need a vacation we don't timeshare per say but will soon be offering some quarter share units starting at $165K if you're interested. The Quarters at Lubbers' Landing | Island Vacation Homes .

So for all you up in arms about my post let me back up and say this. I'm only in FL for 2-3 months a year, so don't WANT to spend $40 on a GT premium track pack. But, I'm getting ready to do a road trip and said " let me go drive a GT Base and see if it's worth trading up" . Drove a GT base and loved the sound, but honestly didn't want to give up the features and mods I have on my car now for it. Would the GT be a faster car- yes. But to get it to where it made a big difference( to me) I would have to get a tune and other mods. I just wanted a " quick flip " for a road trip. Found out in the process that I like my V6 ( in the state it's in) better. End of story. And sorry but 2 seconds off the line doesn't mean all that much to me. Didn't mean to offend anyone...

Shoot if I got a newer 5.0 I would get a tune, ABs, and a short throw shifter and be set. Iirc, they have the mt82 still correct?

Heck, even the base models are pretty nice now. Things like Track Apps and a backup camera are standard items now.

This...I had an older 1970 Coupe 302...it sounded soooo good, a little slow but thats what you get with a (at the time) 33 year old car with a 4 speed auto

Please...no more pointless CAI threads...im going to go ape **** if I see another donkey posting about which piece of garbage plastic tube he should buy.

Honestly Im on the fence. i love how my car performs, and for me it is plenty "quick". i would trade up just to just add 2 more cylinders to the engine for that oh so sexy sound. I just happen to know that with equal mods it would be a whole new animal but even if it performed the same id still want that 8.
