Hood Install

How easy is it to install a 2013/14 GT hood on a 2014 V6? Also, is there a big difference between the Candy and Ruby Red's?

Same hood pretty much, except with the hood vents. No comment on the color part.

There is a big color difference. As far as the install is concerned its super easy. 4 bolts and the washer lines and the heat blanket ( I left mine off for cooling purposes )

That grill delete looks great! There's a guy on eBay who has a 13 or 14 hood, but he's not sure which year. I tried to look up the part number but couldn't find anything. I'm down for buying it, but don't want to buy the wrong color!

There it goes! Sorry about the spamming! If anyone could help determine which color this is, that would be great!

Finally getting my GT hood on Saturday. I'm taking mine off and driving to the place to install it.

Luckily my girlfriend is awesome and loves cars as much as I do, and she's helping me take my original hood off.

Oh I wish! My girlfriend likes her Nissan Sentra more than my car...

I say it would be near impossible for anyone to say for sure which color it is from a photograph.
But if I had to GUESS I would say it wasn't Ruby Red Metallic.
But you have to see it in person and preferably next to your car to be sure.
EDIT: There's a big enough difference between these 2 colors that you would NOT mix them on the same car.

Haha you corrected me on a Ruby Red post earlier, so I'm gonna trust your judgement. I want it to be so badly though!

IMO since red candy was not available on 13's or 14's and that hood is not race red, it must be ruby red. The underside is more red than my 2012 red candy hood too. The red candy base coat has a coppery look without the tinted clear coat Do you think it is repainted?

Messaged the seller, he purchased a paint chip catalogue and said it was Ruby Red, shipping is an arm and a leg, but I'll probably grab it because I've been looking for one for so long

Ruby Red wasn't available on the Mustang until 2014.
2013 had the red candy.

Paint chip catalog for different years, I hope.
EDIT: The reason I say this because those 2 color in question are pretty close. A friend of mine has the Red Candy Metallic and if my car is NOT next to his they look like the same color. But when they're side by side you can see the difference.

just a heads up....it really needs a 2nd set of arms.

I would not get it unless it's the correct color it'll show. If you like the look black would be ok (better than a different shade of Red Metallic)

Vig, my Love is OK with cars but loves them Not....but the $ for mine came from her so I'm lucky too!

It sucks because the seller is in Indiana and I was there like 3 weeks ago. I'm in Florida now. I dunno how to move forward. I want the hood, but don't wanna get it if it isn't a 100% match

I understand your dilemma.
If the paint chip catalogue he got included the 2012 - 2013 Red Candy Metallic as well as the 2014 Ruby Red Metallic then I would feel a little better, but like you say, "shipping is an arm and a leg".
So you got 3 possibilities...
1. You get it. Find it to be a good match and install it. Happy ending.
2. You get it. Find it's Red Candy. You pay the cost to repaint.
(If he was matching color chips from 2014 color choices, that didn't include the Candy Red, he would be comparing the race red to the ruby red, in which case the Ruby Red would look the closest. Needs to have a chip for the Red Candy also.)
3. You don't get it and keep waiting to find one. You'll sleep better not worrying about it. You'll never know if it was or wasn't the correct color.

It could be worse...it could be me.

First of all, this guy wants way too much for a stock hood he can't confirm the year and color on.

Secondly, even if it were your color doesn't mean it will match. You are better off finding one local. Get it painted and avoid the heartache when you pay 6 bills and it arrives the wrong color and or is damaged because this clown has no clue how to ship this hood correctly

Or just buy a new Ford it LKQ hood and have it painted locally.
