rattle noise in the rear of car

I'm new to this forum. three months ago i bought my 2013 deep impact 3.7 mustang. Great condition. within this last week i've developed a clanking-rattle in the rear of my car. Don't know if it's exhaust, shocks,or suspension. has anyone experienced this? If so, what's the fix? I want to keep this in as good of condition as possible. So curing this promblem means alot. Don't want it getting worse> Thanks for any & advice.

P.S. It only rattles when on rough road or bumps. Yes i should stay off those roads, right. But can't now. Thanks...

Any suspension mods?

If not, how many miles on the shocks?

Raise up car with suspension loaded thump the bottom of your sway bar links if they move at all they are the noise. To prove it remove sway bar its easy if noise goes away that's it.
That's what was going on my 2013 with 36,000. get the greaseable aftermarket links.

Ha I've been hearing the same thing. A hollow clunking sound from seems like right rear. I've emptied the trunk and checked under the carpet and the spare is tight. Nothing loose. Gotten worse since colder.

Seems suspension based...

I'll check the sway bar, thx for the suggestion.

I haven't had any mods done yet. All factory as of date. Got 53482 miles on it. Ill try the sway bar test you mentioned. Thanks a lot! I feel its suspension or exhaust, but just a guess on my part.

My left side exhaust pipe bumps the cross brace over the rear end occasionally and makes a clanging noise. Been going to take it to a muffler shop for an adjustment, just been to busy.

Second the sway bar end links. Had mine replaced under warranty. This is after the dealer replaced shocks as a first attempt.

Yep. Confirmed it was my pass side end link at the sway bar. Same clunk when I shook it by hand, only tiny play in it for such a loud clunking sound. New moon end links and all hardware from dealer about 100. Shouldn't be a prob in the first place tho....cheap. Thanks everyone.

Just fixed this exact problem in my rear 2 weeks ago. Not a hard install either.

Yeah, the stock end links are pretty wimpy and the rubber bushings don't seem to last long (like, they start falling apart the moment the car rolls off the assembly line...LOL).
