What is this?

It's on the drivers side next to the downstream O2 sensor. I'm putting spark plug non foulers on the O2 sensor due to my high flow cats, but I'm trying to figure out what this is, because with the non foulers the back of the O2 sensor is hitting this thing, it goes in but it sits right on the object in the picture

Looks like some sort of shift linkage or solenoid.

I don't see any driveshaft in that picture. Looks like a boot over some sort of line or linkage.

Do you have a manual or auto?

That's an auto. Manual doesn't have a trans pan like that

Shift control cable for automatics. Goes from shifter to transmission.
Had to crawl under car to find out.
