Oil Separator

I'm getting ready to order some more parts from American Muscle and I'm debating whether or not to add an oil separator to my purchase. From what I've researched, it looks like the GT guys swear by these, but I'm wondering if it's worth it for my lightly modified V6? Does anyone have some personal experience with these?

I can't comment on long term but mine collects a few ounces of oil every couple of thousand miles. That can't be good on the intake long term. Take the plunge brother.

That's what I've been thinking. For $120 that seems to be worth it for peace of mind alone. I appreciate it!

Search the forum, this has been discussed in depth many times. No real conclusion is ever met, as there are strong opinions for multiple routes, but you can at least see the discussions and decide for yourself.

I actually just pulled the trigger on the purchase with the JLT. I've checked the forum over but always found everything on the 5.0 with not much on the 3.7 side. Now I'll be finding out for myself here soon!

If you do get one, don't get the AM one, get the UPR.

11-15 Mustang V6 Plug N Play Short SC Oil Catch Can

The UPR units are well known to be really good and more and more of their stuff is being made in the USA (including this piece) now as well. Braided hose, fast disconnect, cheaper and the UPR public 5% discount code is SHAZAM when you checkout.

Damn I should be a UPR forum rep lol.

edit: I forgot they also have a fully customizable billet one too

I love My JLT separator

I have the JLT and it is perfect on my V6 3.7 Cyclone engine. Easy to install, Easy to empty and just a very good high quality product that works.

I'd still go for the UPR one with the braided lines but that's me.

I don't think there are any that are any better or worse then another. I like the JLT because of the quality of the can and the ease of emptying it. I also like the genuine non-collapsible Ford hoses and fittings that just un-plug.
I also like the looks of it, It has been on my car for about four years now with "NO" problems at all.

I'm looking at ordering one but it was the Jlt from AM.
But for only 10$ more I'm interested in this unit if its better. I'll do some more research on this one before deciding.

That's the finish I went with. I like how it pops with the black surrounding.

Looking at the UPR, it definitely has more customization options and looks more sturdy, but it bumps the price up pretty quickly adding on options. I could easily see why some of the extras would be needed if you had forced induction, but I think in my current case of minimal mods the JLT should do great. Thanks for the suggestion on UPR though, I never would have heard of them otherwise!

The JLT is very sturdy and of very high quality. It is designed well and does exactly what it is supposed to do.
I bought my Mustang in 2011 and it was one of the first things I put on after the Magnaflows were installed.
I have not had one single problem with it and I empty it about every thousand miles. It is so easy to take off and empty and wipe out and put back on the car it is a pleasure and not a chore to do.
I have not seen a UPR in person so I can't comment on it at all, I'm sure it is fine but I'm sticking with my JLT.

One of the best mods I've done! All that oil would be going back into the engine creating more sludge than need be
