Just dropped some money...Gears!

Just got the X4/MPT bundle, 3.55 gears and trac-lok carbon disks (since they will be in there anyway. I'll be having Dez racing in MA doing the install for $450.

Two things: MPT just raised their prices today. The bundle went up $50.
Second, how do I tell if the FRPP 3.55 gears are the motive or Ford ones? I know Motive was making gears for Ford for awhile and have been know to whine.

I think motive still makes the ford gears. They stopped making their own several years ago.

I to bought the ford racing 3.55 gears and install kit can't wait to get them in..It says on the ford racing web site that all their gear are made in the USA at the ford sterling plant so i don't think motive is making them.

It has 2.73's now so hopefully a big difference. I'll let you take it for a spin at the gas station meet up in the spring. I always felt a "ride along" never gives you a true comparison like actually driving it. At that point my car will be complete. Tune + gears should be a night and day difference from my stock '14 auto. Also, Dez is installing my UCA and carbon trak-loc disks, since it's a pain to do without a lift. Kind of sucks that MPT raised their prices, but for what you get it's still worth it by a mile.

Also, after further research I think the motive gear issue was related just to 4.10 gears.

Sounds nice! Anything will be better than the 2.73s. Dez are good eggs. They noticed the loose tailshaft in my 6R80 auto trans that ultimately took a lot of work for a transmission shop to fix...but at least its fixed.

You know, Dez does install one-piece driveshafts...hint, hint...

sweet..I plan on having my suspension in by then. I'll show you mine if you show me yours.

having 3.31 I know I'd prefer 3.55 or 3.73 to make 3rd gear more fun in the twisties. I find with 3.31 although it is the monster gear I would rather have more grunt down low than top speed in it.

Fluid leak, lots o' noise from rear of transmission as stuff clunked about. Left totally unresolved would have resulted in problems shifting and probably wrecked the whole transmission.

What the trans shop told me was that nothing was hugely broken, just an additive effect from a series of parts being worn out-of-tolerance.

Quick Question. I was looking to have 3.73s installed but I noticed that they recommend the 8" solid driveshaft. Is this a must?

8" Solid drive shaft? I think you either mean 1 piece drive shaft or 8.8 solid rear end. The guy telling you might think your V6 has a 7.5" rear end, which the 2009 and back did, however our 11 and up were equipped with the 31 spline axles and 8.8 rear ends.
