Help! Dumb noob question here please

Sup guys. I got Raxion Headlights on my 12. The ones with no factory HID option. So i put some covers on them to get them darker and woah I cant see at night. I purchased some Sylvania lights that my cousin said would be much much brighter. My question is, how do i install them? Yeah i know its a dumb question but when i looked in the back of the raxioms theres this black circular part where the wiring goes to. How do i take that out to replace the the bulb? there doesnt seem to be much space so Do I have to remove the whole headlight to change it?

Please advise guys I need to get this done today.

Thanks!

Well first off, hopefully you got the right size bulb, as the Raxiom's use H9 bulbs instead of the factory H13. As far as accessing the bulbs, you just twist that cover counterclockwise and it'll pop off. You'll see the bulb inside.

Best advice I can give you though is to simply remove those covers.

If they are Sylvania Silverstars, they wont' be brighter, just whiter. They are actually dimmer than OEM lights as far as lumen output.

I also vote remove the covers. The bulbs are not going to make a big enough difference.

^That too.

And before I even have to hear the question, no you cannot just buy a $40 HID kit and put it in as a solution. You'd need a full retrofit and might as well buy the HID Raxiom lights at that point or do a swap to OEM HIDs.

It would prob be better. But it will be harder to remove if it had the same effect on your lights

I just ordered them. From the looks of it it will decrease visibility but not like the covers. Im gonna keep them on there until i receive the new tints and then see what i do with them. Probably sell them somewhere or if anyone is interested here.

If you got the smoked tint from AM then it'll be fine. I got the tint from them and although you can see a difference with them it's not a whole lot and you'll get used to them in a couple nights and it'll just look normal again.

You should be good then. Makes the front look a lot stealthier as well. I get compliments all the time. I even had a few cops tell me they like the way it looks.

I would have gotten the raxiom smoked lights but on cyber monday the chrome were at $100! i think that was a mistake because when i went to check out it would go up to 2something so i called and AM gave em to me for $100. Im not a fan of chrome so thats why i want to smoke em out. The bulbs should be good right? I shouldnt have to replace them?

HIDs are overrated honestly. Yeah they are brighter for sure, not arguing that... but a good halogen properly aimed in an OEM (or good aftermarket) housing is going to light up the road just fine.

Hopefully they're the Raxioms for HIDs...

Its a regular HID set. My pony is the 2011. No issues with the set. Stay with the 35W and no melting the lens issue at all

I'm more talking about light scatter and blinding oncoming traffic.

Yeah it really sucks when they don't have it installed properly. I have a '14 with projection housing.

The raxioms have a projection headlight so light scatter is not an issue.

There are two types of projectors though, HID and Halogen. The ones in your Raxioms are designed for use with halogen bulbs. There is still SOME light scatter. It's not nearly as bad as HIDs in reflector housings. The scatter is mainly just above the center of the cutoff

It must be very little scatter because I never get flashed by on coming cars. Perhaps the smoked lenses have something to do with it not blinding on coming cars

You'd have to post a pic of your cutoff. I had HIDs in a halogen projector once and the cutoff didn't scatter light but it was a really bad cutoff. I was going to replace them with HIR bulbs but then I sold the car.

It's just a small rectangle of light above the cutoff. Not nearly as bad as a HID in a reflector housing. Here's a video showing what in talking about. You're right that a smoked lens probably negates the scattered light
