When comparing cost of nitrous and FI you should take into account a few $$ for nitrous refills.

That's true sir. Valid point. Let me ask you this because I don't know the answer. Typically what does it cost to get a bottle nitrous filled? The kit for the 3.7 comes with a 10 pound tank. What does it cost to fill the 10 pound tank?

Non 🍼and non 🌽fed. I $uck!

I have no experience with it but I read recently, $4 to $5 a pound.

Which can you afford? You get horsepower with the supercharger but your not going to be losing out financially. If the 5.0 is so great, why doesn't everyone that thinks you should get the 5.0, pony up some cash for you!

There's a reason I went coyote and sooner after bought a blower for the car. Takes no effort to make big numbers.

A lot of this depends on what you want out of the car. Supercharging your current car will not be a sound financial decision, but trading in is not always easy either. What I will tell you about is my personal experience. I have had 4 Mustangs now. A 99 V6, a 2005 V6, a 2006 GT and now a 2011 GT. I supercharged the 2005 V6 with an Eaton M90 X-Charger. Of all the cars, that V6 was THE most fun to drive, got the most attention and I enjoyed the most. I had 4.10 gears and the X-Charger and it was insane fun. Did not do well at the track really, even though it got attention, most people looked down on it. But dang, I miss that car. It was almost violent. The 2006 GT was the second most fun. This 2011 5.0 is way too smooth. It's almost a luxury vehicle. Again, please know, this is only MY opinion. the current GT is the best for drag racing (when I do make it out) and most people are more "appreciative" of it. It all depends on you. What you are after. Now, I don't believe anyone makes a roots for the 3.7 and I'm not sure how much fun a centri or turbo would be, but that blower on the 4.0 was amazing fun.

I like my 3.7, its a great daily driver in an area where the speed limit is 25-35mph on just about every road I drive. It's the reason I saved money and just bought the 3.7. That being said, if I was going to consider dropping $5800 + install + tune, call it $7k, I'm taking that cash and be putting a down payment on a new 5.0(assuming I stayed with a mustang).

I'm happy with the car and would like to keep it rather than buy a new one, I would wait for the 2017 5.0 if I buy new. I don't car how it sounds, what people say when they see the 5.0 badge and I do not race it; all I want is more power at a reasonable cost. I figure $6K should get me one installed. I had a 2011 5.0 so I'm familiar with the power in the 5.0. Will a supercharged 3.7 have that kind of power and be reliable? Should I dump 6K into the V6 or buy a new 5.0?
If you want more power and reliability the answer is simple, get a 5.0 as others have stated. However, as you stated you like your V6, so in that case you could go with a Turbo/SC package and make good power without forged internals, but you will have more upkeep.

The only reason to keep your V6 is if you want to really, if you want a whole lot of power you'll need a V8.

Personally, I like the V6 as my daily. It gets good MPG and the upkeep, insurance, and loan payments are pretty cheap, which gives me plenty of money to spend on other things. The only way I'd get rid of my V6 for a V8 is if I found someone selling one that had been properly modded similar to mine and taken good care of it.
