Weird evap failure

For the last three months, I have had an intermittent evap leak. Went to the dealer (still have a warranty, might as well use it) three times in two weeks because it kept coming back. They replaced the canister (2nd visit), purge valve and solenoid (1st visit), and the line leading to intake manifold (3rd visit).
After the first visit, I noticed a louder pop from the back of the car, and filed it away as a dry sway bar bushing (that is a problem on my car). Turns out that the idiot tech disassembled my watts link, and did not reassemble it correctly, and as a result, not only was there bind, but the driver side axle clamp went through the fuel filler neck (small hole in rubber hose over axle).

The weird bit is that this should definitely result in first an incomplete for the evap system, and trigger an evap leak code, since the filler neck is federally mandated to be a monitored portion of the system. I only get a code and light VERY irregularly (1 day out of 45 gives a p0442), and the system states that it is confirmed good. Has anyone else run into anything similar?

I still need to take mine back in, they replaced the Purge valve and the code was back on before I left the dealer.
BTW that is an 8 year 80,000 mile warranty since it is Emissions.

Do you get the "check fuel fill inlet" warning light as well?
I'm fixing to delete the evap canister, and I'm going to disable all the codes in my tune. This is all part of the wire tuck that Terry (TB Built) is going to do in the beginning of summer.
