not that bad. I have to pull the frame a bit ,radiator. nose hood and a fender. lucky I have a buddy who runs a wreaker yard near by that gave me the parts on the cheap plus use of his body shops frame machine.
the car will be ready for the track on opening day with a certain local 18 YO Subaru owner in my sites who thinks gramps can't still drive.

I haven't heard anything from Ford except the original recall letter. Dealers around my home always say they don't have parts, any parts.

This is going to be a long drawn out affair.
I just wonder how it's impacting trade-ins on newer Mustangs?

I'm sure a dealership wouldn't use the airbag affair as an excuse to lowball a customer on a trade-in...LOL.

I actually just called the service department of my Ford dealer the other day to see what's going on. Unfortunately, they seem to know about as much as we do regarding when this is going to be resolved.

There's no parts. For the earlier cars, they have parts and have to perform the recall if you bring it in, but the replacement parts are also under recall and the final fix is unknown timeline just like for us 11-14 owners

With 33.8 MILLION cars involved in the recall it will take years to get them all done if Takata doesn't go bankrupt first.

33.8 million and counting, seems every few days some other company adds more to the list.
at any rate after the bag on my 07 issue I just took a beating and traded my v6 12 for a loaded 16 focus se sport. so yes it affecting trade in values big time. as all I could master up was 11k to the new one. after paying 16.5k 9 months ago. then looking at my dealers web site every used stang they have shows a open air bag recall.
upside is they had me remove my jvc radio/sat and backup camera system reinstall the stock radio

Well this thread got me to call my dealer again today on the status of my replacement. They told me that I should be receiving another letter in the mail shortly about how I'll be notified when the parts become available.......again.
Pretty much what the first letter stated back in June as it said my Vehicle was being recalled and I will be notified when parts become available. This will go on and on.

Sent from the future.

I personally know someone that works at my local ford dealer in the service department and all he told me is that there is no info available at the time. I also think it's gonna be a few years before anything happens.

Recall

I'm surprised there not being sued as we can not trade our cars and get fair value for them!

Has anyone thought about removing their driver's wheel airbag and just going without?
I think I'd rather do that than have shrapnel blown into my face and neck if it goes off.

Hm, that's strange. I had the steering wheel airbag replaced in my GT about two weeks ago. They (local ford dealer) said it was a different airbag they couldn't get. Same faulty air bag that's on my Roush.

Every day is a joyride.

Its the driver seat air bag that is faulty. Nothing else not even the passenger side is affected.

The big recall on the air bags IS the steering wheel air bag.

I think the same way.
Although statistic say there's a greater chance of injury without the airbag then with the possibly defective airbag.

Actually my airbag light came ON....dealer said there was either a loose wire or a module bad. Wanted 159.00 to remove the seat and look at it. They said as long as the airbag light was lite it would not allow the airbag to work!! So I'm not getting it fixed till the recall parts come in!

Agreed. If the issue was that prevalent we would be reading about peoples heads popping off on a weekly basis.

Which reminds me, a member here just got hit by a drunk driver and said he was fine so I'm assuming his functioned proper?

I unplugged mine. I put a piece of electrical tape over the air bag light on the dash, all is good now

Roulette with a gun with about 1,000,000,000 bullet chambers and only one live round.

You have to factor in the chances of being in a car accident bad enough to deploy the bag in the first place, then multiply that my the odds of the bag being defective, which is .7% for Ford vehicles.

You should be more worried about crossing the street, you have better odds of being hit be a vehicle. Trust me, it happened to me in 2009. lol

Odds are you are more likely to seriously injure yourself by disabling your airbag.

Out of curiosity, during those 20 years how many serious accidents were you involved in?
