Anyone know what happened to him? Wanted to send him a pm and it said user doesn't exist? Did the mod police ban him?

Weird, I was just thinking that yesterday... he used to give me crap all the time, but haven't heard a peep lately. Weird that his profile is gone.

Was he the one that posted that he might get kicked or was that someone else? I remember about a month or two ago someone was complaining they got banned for a little bit after just coming back from a ban and they were going to move on.

No need for the mod police comment.

He PM'd us awhile ago and asked that his account be removed. We acknowledged his request.

I don't think Coool was saying anything negative about the mods, just passing on what he thought he remembered KC saying?

That said, the mods here do an awesome job (I'm not kissing butt) at letting us post freely with very limited mod interaction. I'm also a member at hawkeyereport.com and if you want to see how good we have it here, just spend an hour on that site... and it's a PAY site. Anything not 100% positive about the Hawkeyes and you get publicly mod-slammed pretty quickly or have your post erased without notification.

Knowing what it's like on other forums, you'd have to try to not get along here. In fact, I don't remember seeing a post yet where a mod had to get after someone.

Keep up the excellent work, it's appreciated.

Kevin cook?

Actually my first post was slammed by a moderator. I pm'd how rude I thought he was! He lightened up after that. I was brand new ...we all ask some dumb questions when were unfamiliar. I have found them a bit nit picky since...but have nothing to compare it to!

I don't mind being moderated....but you don't have to try to embarrass someone. PM's can be handy tool for a newcomer.

Strictly online, I would imagine.

Do the admins pay to keep the site up with the money they make from ad revenue? If not, who pays?

It's in advertisement and sponsors, such as American Muscle, and others you see on the upper and right side screens. Not sure how wealthy the site owner(s) are that own these types of forum sites though. If interested, here's one URL that can help in getting started with your own: http://www.websitetoolbox.com/messag...FYMlgQodmVgFDA

As to Kevin Cook, I asked why he was leaving in the hopes we could resolve any issues that he may have had with the site; he stated he had none, but was tired of the site and was moving on.
Some folks start a job that searches the web looking for your "internet style" and personality. Perhaps this was his reason. Purely an assumption on my part. I honored his request to have his account removed.

And no, mods or Admins do not get paid. We do it because we love abuse and insults!

With more and more people using apps, advertising is not even seen. I use either my iPad or iPhone and never see advertisements. Wonder how much that hurts or will hurt future sponsorship?

This.

Also if you are saavy you can disable all the advertisements in your browser. Firefox was the first one to make this really easy. Although now most ppl are using Chrome.

TBTH, I'd pay a small fee per month for a legit premium Mustang forum. Would be nice to not have to worry about trolls or people jumping in asking "I have a 88 Mustang GT and $1k for mods, how can I beat an LS1?" with 1 post.

I'm not sure how this site works but some sites get paid by "click throughs" and some simply show the advertiser the amount of traffic they receive and charge accordingly.

My hunch is with AM offering discounts to members here, that ME makes enough money with that partnership alone to sustain itself. The impressive part is if this is the case, ME doesn't keep people from posting criticisms of AM... which a lot of forums wouldn't do.

Ha, those and "I am putting a twin turbo setup on real soon, and want to know how much power I will be making" or "what exhaust?"

As a former staff member (under Brent) I can only cringe when I see those repeat/silly threads. I tried to manage them as best as possible and kindly recommend the search feature. It does work quite well. A monthly or annual membership fee would probably reduce a lot of that, but it could also reduce new membership and cause the site to become stale, as so many other forums have become. There are a ton of great members on the site now that might not be if it is fee only.

Having been on this site as sonicpony03 since 07, and another handle before that since 05, I have seen this site grow immensely. The addition of the Mevo app really boosted usage and traffic, which is a good thing, but sometimes fills the boards with clutter. I think it's a balancing act that you current mods do pretty well.

Oh and I am probably one of a few that still uses a computer 99% of the time.

Simple. Pay a henchmen to beat down the other driver and steal the keys before the race.

Same here. You can't make everyone happy either. Just have to follow the rules and that's it. The moderation on this site is pretty good.

If I didn't use my phone with the app on mevo I would rarely post or read up on threads. I would like to buy a forum such as this one. Only if there's money to b made. Seems like an ideal business. Low overhead, absent owner and low maintenance.

Or become a full time youtuber.

As crazy as it is that people are making a living off it I think it would require quite a bit of work and motivation. You have to continue to provide material that gains and keeps an audience.
