Yeah that just makes it even more muddled for my taste. The bass is very good on these shaker systems, it's the clarity that missing IMO.

I just got the other Sony installed and Im officially done with it. Lol

With both Sonys in I found I can go a little higher in the volume band without getting distortion and it's slightly clearer sound, so $40 is worth it.

Hawk, base or premium? I think those of us that suggest upgrading have the base.

So changing out the base speakers worth it?
Cause OMG my speakers sound awful.
I don't really have the extra money to overhaul the whole system, but if a speaker upgrade made a difference in the base model I'm down with that.

Sent from the future.

It sounds like it. Just dont soend much money. Anymore, $40 can get you decent speakers and no way can the base power expensive speakers anyway.

2012 base model and to my ears it was huge...bass is still weak and one day I may add in a small sub. It didn't make it sound great, but it no longer sounds terrible.

I like my music and have spent real $ on my home system. I cant see spending real $ in a car but the $200 and an afternoon to do all 4 was worth it to me.

So my Mustang OCD forced me to go back to the JBL 6x9s. The reason was is that the JBLs sounded slightly better but added significant bass... AND I figured out I can go MUCH louder without losing sound quality.

So I figured out how to securely mount them without an adapter and the Sonys are going back to Walmart. lol

So are the JBLs our only 2 ohm option?

Crutchfield does not have the 8628s so do you have a link to the needed brackets / adapters for a 2012 base?

They were the only ones I found in the correct size.
You can also look at the Shelby system, they worked with Kicker for a replacement sub and 6x8 speaker that is supposed to sound good with out Shaker system.
I am getting ready to put the Shelby Subs in mine to get rid of the Vibration with Talking DJ's.

So on the JBL 6x8s no bracket needed for the 2012 just the wiring adapters from Bestbuy?

Depends on if you have a premium package. If so the wire adapters dont fit so don't bother. Also I had to drill into my door frame to rig a mount.

Changed my front and back to Polk audio ... Very clear sounding speakers not much bass but my 12" sub handles all the bass. I just need to upgrade my head unit now.
