2014 Mustang V6 Base Question

Is there supposed to be red plastic lens in the rear valance on the base model? Bought mine used and there isn't any there but only pictures I find have features that make it clear it isn't a plain base light a backup camera or backup sensors. The attached photo isn't of my vehicle but I circled the lens I'm referring to...

If they are or aren't... anyone know where I can get some to pop in there?

Thanx

Yes there are supposed to be red reflectors there. Honestly if they are just missing that is a red flag to me that the car could have been hit, crashed, tampered with, or rebuilt. Not to scare you or anything but maybe you should look up the car fax because I don't see how those red reflectors could come out unless they were either hit out with force or if they were taken out by someone. Also if your car has random features they were either added by someone or when it was rebuilt after a crash they could have replaced it with them. My last mustang was a GT but it was rebuilt and my deck lid was from a V6 and had the V6 emblem on it. That was a red flag to me that it was rebuilt or crashed.

Carfax was checked and got a good report. There was slight damage on the rear bumper but nothing I can't fix... Soon as I have time that is lol

Anyway someone has or can get the part number so I can get some to replace these?

Photo of actual bumper... And no it was already "repaired" by them lol

I'm with Chaz... If the reflectors are missing than it's VERY likely that is not the original rear end. No way would someone waste the time stealing those reflectors nor would both just pop out from a love tap.

My guess would be that the previous owner managed to get a wreck pass the carfax.

It looks like you have the OEM axle backs on it still. Look at were they connect to the exhaust pipes... are the seals still in tact? (There is a metal piece you have to break off to replace them)

Now, I'm not saying that if it was in a wreck that you are screwed. Mine was in a minor accident before I bought her and it runs like a dream. But if I were you, I'd back my Stang onto some ramps and lay under the rear with a good light source and really inspect everything. Just for peace of mind. And I love laying under my Mustang.

Yeah those missing just make me think something is not right. I don't think I have ever seen those missing but maybe they just fell out or something. I agree in saying his to inspect everything. I guess that's all you can really do.

Yep. Your Mustang has been wrecked . Not all crashes are reported on Carfax, some sneak by.... Sometimes a owner will pay 'out of pocket' for smaller damage wrecks instead of reporting it to their insurance company, in fear of their rates might go up.

I'll check it out later but my assumption is it was done at the auction lot before it was sold or when they were prepping it for repair since there is a small paint chip area under the gas door that has been sanded down slightly for a touch up.
Regardless of what the cause, it runs too well to have been anything more than cosmetic. I've have all the interior panels off and no signs of damage/repairs.

Sometimes they just don't get reported to carfax either. When I bought my Mustang I traded in a KIA that had gotten hit the first week I owned it and had to have $3,000 in repairs done to it. About a week after I traded it in it was on the dealer site and I was playing around and checked it's carfax. Last thing it had on there was that I bought and sold the car and that the car had 0 accidents.

Yeah my guess is that the bumper was simply painted and the reflectors were forgotten.

I think to assume it was "crashed" or "wrecked" is a little dramatic just because these are missing. To your point, the first owner probably scratched it and just took it to a small shop and paid out of pocket, or the dealership who prepped it to sell to you did this.

I will tell you having personally removed those reflectors to do my GT500 diffuser, they pop out stupid easy. I also had BOTH, yes BOTH, of my front parking lights straight fall out of my bumper on the same day for no reason. I went to a car show and went to wipe some bugs off with some quick detailer and when I touched them with a towel they literally fell to the pavement. It was the most bazar thing ever. So I don't put it out of the realm of possibility that these could have popped out. Or who knows, the last guy may have hated these and removed them. Or maybe he removed them simply to tint and never put them back. So many what ifs. You want to know if it's truly been "wrecked", pull the bumper off and inspect the inner structure.

Was the car a former rental?

Don't trust the action 100%... I bought a 2014 premium from ford dealers action.... Before purchasing it had a buyers check/look over done and they found that it had frame damage... Car fax and everything was clean

Never a rental and looked under it... Everything looks good and original. Just cosmetic as I thought.

everyone jumping to conclusions that it was crashed..

what if the guy just didn't like them, and removed them? like, simplest answer here. did you ask the guy about it, or had you already gotten the car by then?

AM sells reflector tints for people who don't like how they look, so it's not that far fetched that the guy just popped them out bc he didn't like the look.....

Is the paint on the bumper cover darker than the rest of the car? I'm pretty sharp at noticing color differences.

I don't think it's quick to jump to conclusions when something like this is missing. If something like that was missing on my car I would be concerned and no one is saying "your car has for sure been recked because your reflectors are missing" we are just offering advice to be concerned because that is very weird.

A simple question had turned into "your car should be scrapped" LMFAO

There is nothing wrong with the car other than those reflectors are missing.

If someone knows part number great otherwise thanks and I'm done with this topic.

Last thing it had on there was that I bought and sold the car and that the car had 0 accidents.

They don't get reported if there is minor damage, & the owner just replaces the parts themselves, right?

If you take your car to a small mom and pop shop and just pay cash, nothing is usually reported. They just take your money, hand you the receipt, and send you on your way.

It usually shows up on Carfax if you report it through you or someone's insurance and get it fixed through them.

yeah... as long as it's repaired or replaced properly.

Sucks that "properly" is subjective when it comes to shops. Hopefully you never saw the BS I went through when a shop screwed up the entire paint job on my 2011 Mustang.

It looks like the previous owner took a minor hit to the bumper, or backed in to something. This caused the bumper cover to flex, popping the rigid reflectors out, and causing the chip and minor cracks in the paint. Previous owner elected to touch up the chipped paint rather than replace the $500 bumper cover. The reflectors are probably in the parking lot where this unfortunate event occurred. You should definitely unload this car at a great loss.

no I didn't. did you post it? i will look.
that's what sucks about buying used from strangers.
but even brand new cars get recalled & repaired, so it's to be expected.
Driving with my friends is a little different than taking the bus ha ha.
But the bus was fun too, i guess.
(& cheaper ha ha)

It was on my old account on here that was deleted (kevin.cook). So the old threads do not work. But essentially, the car was purchased, had some cosmetic defects, went to a dealer trusted shop for repainting. They literally ruined the entire car. Took like 2 months to get it decent again.

My wife's parents bought the 2011 from me though. So not my concern anymore.

And just FYI, none of that was reported for Carfax. So that is a perfect example. Total repainting due to bad service and went off the record.

AM sells reflector tints for people who don't like how they look, so it's not that far fetched that the guy just popped them out bc he didn't like the look.....
^This^ I've come pretty close on a couple of occasions debating my removing these reflectors off of my sixer. I just don't like the way they look.

While getting my air bag recall fixed yesterday I talked to the parts guy. Item is 15A448 and they are about $23 each.
