2014 mustang v6 perm pack

Hey guys

On my way home tonight and started smelling something like it was burning. I pulled up to my place and looked under the vehicle. When I did I saw rusty colored fluid, almost like it was spilled over and dripping.

I thought transmission fluid. (I have a manual transmission) I drove it around some more and it's not leaking. I was more "on the throttle" than I normally am but idk what caused such a "spill" and then no more "leaking. "

Is there a overflow valve or something crazy lol. Please if you have any info if like to know before I go to Ford.

I attached an image(yes it's dark) but it's in that area where leak is dripping to.

Didn't I see some people on here saying that the water pump is suspect on our Stangs? Could that be leaking and the fluid mixing with some of that rusty residue that is on your pully wheels?

Just shooting out an idea.

It's the right area for it and the coolant has a slick texture to it. It does make a bad smell if it spills onto hot parts. I'd get it to the shop asap.

Good luck

Antifreeze is your coolant. 99% sure it's your water pump.

Could be a hose leaking somewhere but its probably the 'weep hole' on your water pump. Its a little hole on the bottom of the water pump that leaks when the bearings are worn out.

Shouldn't call someone a 'troll' just because of, ****ing trying to help you out.........

Next you will say I 'm not too
Water pump, should be covered under the 5 year/ 60,000 mile power train warranty and make sure the dealer changes out the little hose that goes from the thermostat housing to the degas tank.

My '11 spewed all of its water out the bottom of the pump. Made it to the dealer without any damage and was replaced under warranty. Only problem I have ever had and that was four years ago.

No clue. Apparently the replacement fixed the problem.

As far as I know the 2014's did not have the correct degas hose with the backflow valve either. Ford has blamed premature water pump failure on the "faulty" hose so I have replaced mine on my own...so far so good at 40,000 miles.

look at the hose yourself, the updates one has a clamp and a small piece (check valve) in the middle. I would bet beverage they did change it to the updated one.

Awesome! Heck that's all it is? Looks like a very easy swap, right?

How much did it cost?

Thx!

easy-peasy...I did it with a small pair of channel-locks no real coolant loss

Do the swap with the engine cold if you can. Coolant level will be lower in the degas bottle so less chance of spillage.
