Oxford knew...he ALWAYS knew!!!

So I will apologize ahead of time as this will be long-winded.

This past weekend, my wife and I applied for a new F150 because our other one was single cab and was practically worthless. While waiting for financing to go through (which it did), I took a peek at the 2016 Mustangs as I didn't want to sit around for 4 hours.

1 stuck out. A 2016 Mustang GT w/ manual trans and GT Performance Pack. Our sales guy for the truck saw me looking at it and asked if I could see myself in it. I said if he made my negative equity vanish, then probably. LOL

That might be a mistake or a blessing. Because for kicks, he had me fill out an app just to see where I stood. A lot of back and forth on pricing and such. We finally came to a final number which surprisingly, showed I was approved with a bank ready to pick up the Auto loan.

My #1 concern was my mods on the 2014. We all know there was a crap ton on it. I knew I would lose $$ but with the GT having some of the same stuff as my 2014 (3.73s, wheels, even better 6 piston Brembos), I was not extremely concerned. HOWEVER! The dealership agreed to let me keep as much stuff as I could remove while still keeping the car driveable.

So I was able to remove the mufflers, throttle body, and intake since I had the stock ones. Also other stuff like SCT tuner, pony rubber floor mats, JLT Catch can, and some other stuff.

To make up the difference on the Brembos I had on the 2014, the Sales Manager added free oil changes for 6 years on the 5.0 and waved the charge for it. This seemed very reasonable to me.

They also gave me trade value as if the 2014 was a Premium.

So while I did have a great journey here, I am now a 5.0 guy. And Oxford, you win. lol. These 5.0s are way too amazing and tempting. I didn't even think of applying at first. I just wanted to look. But like the sales guy told me after I was approved, it is usually the people who are looking that end up buying. And usually the people who think they are buyers, have one of the highest rates for not getting the car.

And to be honest, after being turned down twice, I had 0 faith. I guess it was a miracle that allowed me and my wife to get a 2015 F-150 and a 2016 Mustang GT.

Of course this is the car I always wanted, so I will drive it till the wheels fall off. I will not be tuning it or anything so EVERYTHING can stay under warranty for as long as possible.

I am still getting used to the clutch. Feels so much different vs the V6. I was a fool to ever think my 2014 with all the bolt-ons would challenge and beat one of these beasts being n/a.

Thanks. The oil changes for 6 years will probably have more value then the Brembos long term. Arent the oil changes for the 5.0s like $100? Lol.

So 2-3 oil changes a year for 6 years. Thats easily over $1,500 I would guess.

Plus now i got some stuff off the 2014 to sell. So i can make a little back.

Lmao. Dude, I think I am going to take a back seat in the "I told you so" and just say congrats. But man, I think I should start charging you for financial advice (even though you never listen!).

Glad to see you got a sweet new ride though. And only because I know it's what you've wanted for so long. And when that's how you feel, the 3.7 while a worthy advisory will never be a 5.0

Faaaaking Kevin!

It's a sad truth you never really learn until you drive a 5.0 or in my case a 3.5TT. You realize just how far you have to go and either double-down, change your expectations, or upgrade.

Thanks man. I definitely like going the route of getting a very strong engine as a baseline with the bells and whistles from Ford so it is all warrantied.

I will say the 6 piston Brembos MAKE the 5.0 stop dead in its tracks. Way way better then the 4 pistons.

I hate the S550's but I really like that color. Congrats.

Out of curiosity, did you happen to drive any of the other V8 muscle/pony cars?

No but last year i drove a silver auto 2015 5.0 and a Competition Orange 2015 5.0. Silver was Auto and Orange was Manual.

Definitely get the Gt performance pack. Its actually more useful then the old v6 performance pack. Who doesnt love 6 piston brembos and staggered wheels? Lol

He said he was going to keep it stock... but we all know how that goes.

Catback and a little suspension won't void anything. MGW or the new Steeda single piece shifter too I would do...

No way in hell he keeps it stock. I said the same thing when I bought mine. Yeah that lasted all of 4 days before I ordered a new shifter and then it began.

Nah. I will still linger around and help if I can.

I'll be mainly visiting the 5.0 area to learn about this car. I really do not know much about it and learning all kinds of new stuff. I just found a little pop out compartment on the left side of the steering wheel. lol

This was the only 2016 5.0 they had with any kind of serious discounts. $4,000 off sticker plus I was able to negotiate a few other things. Color to me wasn't AS important as getting the GT Performance Package. Those brembos....

Possibly. I did keep my SCT X4 just in case. I left it married/tuned to the 2014 so the speedo and stuff would be good when I took it in. I didn't want to risk messing up this deal. I will send it in and get it unmarried at a later time.

Does anyone know how much an unmarry costs? I am sure with that and a tune, it would still be cheaper then repurchasing everything.

Well, still some compensation for losing out on the Brembos. At least it isn't a total loss. With any part, you plan to take a hit on resale. So I did expect to lose a little. But I am surprised that they let me take some stuff off and sweetened the deal for me with what was left.

You never know! Especially if you aren't really upside down on your car. I was a little shocked at how good of a deal I got. Normally you don't get this unless they are doing model close outs due to the 2017s coming out or something.

But also - We have been long time customers of Maxwell Ford and bought like our last 3-4 vehicles from them. So the finance director said he was gonna make it happen since they knew this was my dream car and I been wanting it for a very long time now.

Not one but two new vehicles. U must of walked out of there with a boner. This is why I stay away from dealerships. I once drove by a dealership on my way to work. My intention that morning was to go to work and that's all. Well I got a glimpse of a truck sitting in the lot and my reaction was to stop and look. Well needless to say I drove back home with that truck to pick my wife up so we can go back to the dealership to pick up my other car that I didn't trade in. lol she wasn't happy. Feels so good buying a new vehicle. Again enjoy!!!

It was unexpected to say the least. I knew we wanted at least a new truck for the Extended Cab. It was very hard trying to work around a single cab when it came to family events and such. Plus, in a few years we are planning to have a kid so we definitely need more then 2 seats.

Way to go Kevin, & congrats on your jump to "Light Speed". Know you will enjoy it.
Just remember, it started with a 3.7. I love my 14 SGM S197 Prem vert, but still look at new ones when I see one on the street. Your choice of color & options are #1.
