Headers

Hey guys so I've been planning some of my future mods for the year and following a tuner, I plan on getting some shorty headers. The problem is, my knowledge with exhaust is little to none. I know I have Ford Racing Axlebacks and I'm pretty sure that's my only exhaust mod(I bought it with the Axlebacks on). Just wanna know what the stock headers look like to know if there are already upgrades to those. Also need to know if I need to get an aftermarket midpipe to go with the headers. Feel free to advise me on anything you think would be helpful. Thanks guys.

I bought a set of macs, they were poorly made and didn't fit right. They were about 3/4" out of alignment and the midpipe wouldn't connect. Sent them back to AM for a refund.

I'd look into a different option, bbk if you're on a budget otherwise jba or hooker.

Stock vs. BBK shorty ceramics

MACs are not CARB approved. So do keep that in mind.

I dont think JBA makes headers for the 3.7 (I wish they did, had a set on my '05 4.0 and loved them) there is always BBK shorties, I use them now and they pretty good

I liked them I only removed them because I was on the edge of trading in my car. The collector studs that attach the manifolds to the midpipe didnt have enough threads to completely tighten the connection. Added a few washers problem solved. Coating and welds looked great. If you dont need carb headers go with mac.

Ok so I'm between a few things. So if I go bbk, I'm gonna get the ceramic. If I go JBA (someone convince me because I haven't heard solid reviews) I don't know if I should get ceramic or stainless.

I just had my macs installed with no real problems mentioned. They look and sound great. The installer said the welds looked really good on them too. I did notice a huge foil wrapped cable running right under the headers on the passenger side. There's about a fingers worth of clearance from the headers, has anyone relocated that cable? It does not look like it would be easy.

The jba are stainless, they just have 2 ceramic coating options to keep the heat down under the hood.
