PYPES PYPE-BOMB vs. ROUSH AXLE-BACK

I own a 2014 v6 Mustang that is a daily driver with 5,000 miles. I'm looking for opinions on the Pypes Pype-Bomb & Roush Axle-Backs. They are both in my price range and both seem to have good reviews. (Besides the fitting issues with the Pype-Bombs.) I want the axle-backs to be loud enough without needing any other modifications right now. Also I drive over a bridge multiple times a day & on highways so was wondering if my ears would bleed due to droning.

PYPES PYPE-BOMB vs. ROUSH AXLE-BACK

Droning kind of got annoying with the Pypes, but I still loved them.

I also got them for $50, so I didn't care.

Id go with the Roush if paying full price.

I would lean towards roush a little more. Pypes are garbage and drone like crazy. Even with a stock setup.

You get what you pay for.

I have pypes but I would go roush if I were you. The pypes aren't for everyone because they really do drone but I personally like them still and have taken the car on multiple 8+ hour road trips and the drone doesn't really bother me. I like the sound of them overall but thats just me. The car is a 3.7 so just don't expect to get a v8 sound. The fitment though is true. They fit is awful. I had them installed and it looked bad so then i had a shop cut and bend them up to actually fit the car properly. Only $50 for custom fabrication though so wasnt terrible but these will not fit correctly out of the box.

you see used Pypes for sale often. That ain't a good sign. I would try and find used ones that are anything other than pypes. I scored used Bassanis and like them

What RPMs and such do you hear the drone? Did you leave the stock midpipe/resonator?

0 to 7000 rpm. Kidding. More like low 2s to low 3s.

Used axlebaxks

Where would I go to look for used axle backs? I've searched the internet and can only find new ones for sale.

You might find some on the sell section here or search eBay and on the filters check Used to see only used options.

what Parker said...check this and other forums. The one thing is they need to be within driving distance or shipping will eat up $

At 3:43 is what your car will sound like with just roush axle backs. (Way to raspy at wide open throttle) I had roush for a year and in the end too much drone for me. Not sure what the drone would be like after adding the resonators but it does sound pretty good in the video. Seems to get rid of a lot of the rasp.

Every time I see this thread I am wondering if the OP want rasp and drone, or drone and rasp since everyone I know locally has complained about both from both.

Pypebombs with magnaflow 18" resonators in the over axle pipes, off-road bbk X pipe, bbk long tube headers... Spinning the tires through third shifting at around 5k rpm. Woos hh sound is a procharger.

Can't tell you about the pypes axle backs but Roush axke backs are freaking horrible sounding. They have a horrible loud pitch that sounds like hammered dog crap.

Just a near stock 3.7

Out of the two I'd go with the roush. If you want pypes you could honestly get straight pipes and it would sound very similar and be way cheaper.

The pypes are just big resonator tips. They sound much different then straight pipes though I had that too. The fit of pypes needs to be tweaked as stated. I also run another set of resonators that are 18" long before so mine sounds much deeper than just the pypes.

I just installed on my '14 GT the pype-bomb super system that is the catback and has the m80 resonators. I really love them, they do have that drone around 2100-2300 but I got 3:31's and speed limit is at 70 so that put me around 1900RPM cruise so to me drone is not there. They r really loud but I have never tried the roush so I can't speak for them.

I had the super system on my 06 gt and loved them. Fit sucked on that too but I was able to get the tailpipes straight. I had pypes long tubes too on that cat as well.
