I'm confused... It looks like you have well over $1000 invested in mods... Are you saying you regret it?

Got the tuner on a deal for $300 and the Roush Axlebacks used for $200 (they are just for sound not performance).... So yes I spent $300 on one mod that made me half a second faster in the 1/4 mile 😂😂 and I'd do it again!

Half a second is pretty impressive. Considering gt owners spend around $7k for one second.

No I don't regret anything I did to my car. It drives better and is plenty fast.

I just don't understand the throwing money at the quest to go faster. How fast to you need to go?

I'm not trying to start anything, but the fact that you have a bama tune makes your statement seem a bit hypocritical. Also, the fact that you have a mustang does as well. I mean, if you dont understand people wanting to go faster I would think you would own a camaro.

Any reason not to consider 17's other than possibly aesthetics?

That's a pretty good deal actually. I've seen people spend a lot more for less I would take that.

Bama Tune doing its job!!

$600 for half a sec? Am I hiring a better driver to track my car?

I'd take that half a second in a heartbeat.

Sorry, but no. 7k give or take on a GT is a 9 or 10 second car. Mine was well into the 11s for maybe 4k.

You guess? He owns a V6 and paid around $500 for a half second, while a stock GT is roughly a full second faster than a stock sixxer.

I'm just saying if anyone should be slammed for spending money to go a half or full second faster, it shouldnt be the V6 guy that spent $500. Lol

That said, if I owned a GT I'd still pour money into. It's just plain fun and downright American.

I originally took your statement to mean a GT owner spends $7k to take 1 second off their stock time, which is why i replied as i did. So yeah, i "guess" if you're only comparing dollars vs ET it makes the slightly modded v6 look real appealing.

Get the MPT ghost cam tune! I use it for sound more than anything else. I think it's faster in the 1/4 than Bama but can't prove it because I was spinning from the start worse than with Bama. (Which tells me my new tires should help in the spring) Click image for larger version

The tune and gear are the only mods I could recommend.....after that I'm just saving my money for the turbo! I see people paying 2000 on headers, TB.... That's almost half of a turbo and you don't need the headers. So a short term and long term vision has to be laid out for your car. Establishing where you want to go will keep you from modifying and removing and reselling for a loss.

I went from 2:73's to 3:55's and the car is a blast to drive. Plus I did headers and an x-pipe too. The 3:55's were the best mod I've done to the car. Headers come in 2nd and the Bama tuner is 3rd.

Ya I got it for $75 used so I'm not tripping haha... I can say though on the stock tune it sure helps... haven't tried it with the new bama tune so we'll see but not expecting much... only need .015 to get in the 13.7's so any gain should get me that

If you don't mind me asking how much was labor on the gears and also did you get any whining noise... those and some shorty headers are the next mods on the list

The labor was $400 to install the gears. They have a slight whine when you're coasting but nothing on acceleration. Pretty much normal from what I understand and I'd never notice the whine if I wasn't looking for it. The guy had a little bit of trouble installing them because he set the backlash a little tight initially so I had excessive gear whine. Nothing he couldn't adjust however

Whining is not normal, unfortunately it means they are set incorrect. I'd have him adjust again, or find another shop. Anybody that tells you any whine is ok is clearly trying to get out of pulling everything apart and trying it again correctly.

I have 2.73 gears also. My only performance mod is an MPT tune and I'm at 13.6.

Other mods are just Borla S-Types and 19" GT wheels with 255/40/19s.

Ya I bet if I took the pressure down a little in the tires I'd pick up a little time (still on stock tires)... is yours a auto or manual? And what DA do you normally run in?

Mine is auto.

I go to Cecil County Dragway in Maryland so I'm pretty close to sea level so that helps too.
