LED lighting install complete

Well almost. I have the upper grill and hood scoop installed, with the lower grill yet to do this week. I'll say that for $30 this LED kit is VERY impressive. The craftsmanship is excellent and the remote works very well... even from inside my house with my Mustang in the driveway. I can pick from 7 solid colors and then there is a fade mode and some flickering crap that would certainly get me pulled over. There's also a music mode but haven't tried that yet.

I put it in just for a fun factor, I wont drive with it on hardly ever. But for $30 it will be cool to freak out my buddies when we are drinking beer in the driveway.

Wish I could do something like this but:

1. I'm afraid to try and drill into my hood for the hood scoop lol

2. From everything I researched and could find its illegal in Colorado to have red lights on the front of your car, and I don't think any other color would look good on mine.

I got them off amazon, I will find the link when I get home.

I was terrified to drill as well but in the end Im happy I did. The mmd scoop is very nice quality and the template that comes with is easy to use and spot on!

You can always use it just for show like I plan to. I dont want to get a ticket either. Lol

Nice did you get the kit I had told you about? Also how did you get them in the grill when I did my hood scoop I tried getting them in the grill too but I didn't see any good places to attach them.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll only use green or purple if I drive with it on, which I dont think I have the balls to anyway. They have no say over what you do on private property like driveways, correct?

Not sure if it was the same kit. It was for underneath the car but I used it for what I needed.

There's a real nice area under the top of the grill. I snaked it through and used 2 pieces of 3M tape to secure. Ill take pics tonight, but it's very secure. The bottom may be a challenge though.

idk about the legality of private property but it wouldn't be worth the effort to win.

although coming up behind your buddies with flashing blue lights would be priceless.

For my leds I've gone to SuperBrightLED's . com. I've had great service and products from them. I've also gotten some from Amazon. I'll post pics as soon as I've completed more of the project.

I've had mine for a year now and have had passed plenty of cops with them on in red and never had a problem. I'm in Florida which I know is pretty strict about it. I just don't think cops are really looking out for these kinda things. The good thing is at least in my state I can always turn the lights to green orange yellow or any other color besides red and blue and still be legal.

I looked up the Iowa laws. No blue light of any kind (good call Mud), no red light, no flashing lights, no under body glow. The rest is pretty shaky, BUT the fines are like $20 so it's not like it's game over if I get pulled over. However I don't expect to drive around that way unless maybe I light it up to freak someone out momentarily. lol

I forgot to mention one thing I have had happen with the lights on is cars that were in front of me moving out of the way. So I guess some people can confuse the lights.

Why wouldn't you drive around with the LED's lit? I think it looks pretty cool, it's doesn't look hacked in the scoop or in the grill, it looks like it's meant to be there. I would certainly drive with them lit up at night. I haven't seen another Mustang round these parts with that add on, it looks good man. Great job !

I'm not sure where you live but I know in Colorado any blue or red lights on the front of your car is a huge ticket. Those colors are usually reserved in every state for emergency vehicles. Every state has different laws about extra lighting on front, but almost every state it's illegal to use red or blue lights.

Thanks, I appreciate it. If the fines are really only $20 I might give it a shot with green or purple glow. From what I can gather, those are acceptable colors.

I think the blue or purple, hard to tell looking at the pic, but that color makes the car pop out. I don't see why the cops would bust your chops, it's not like they are blinding cars coming toward you in the opposite direction. Good luck

Because blue and red,as mentioned above, are reserved for emergency vehicles. Its a sizeable fine.

You would get pulled over immediately in my city with those lights on. Save them for a car show, etc.

Are they bright enough if you set them to white in the daylight to use them as running light along with the factory? At least in the grill since I don't have a scoop ...

I installed them for a glow effect so prob not. If they werent tucked behind something they would be bright enough, but it would look like crap.

Ill do a install write up for those wanting to do this. Its so easy and cheap its rediculous. Lol

Looks like I have the same grill you do. So aligning them between the cross bars to match the factory horizontal running light you don't think would look good correct?

You could certainly try it, you never know. The prob is there isnt much to mount to back there. For me I wanted the led strip tucked away so running it along the top worked perfect. Ill take some pics today.
