Stripe Removal

So lately I've been thinking of removing the rocker panel stripes. They came on the car when I bought it in January and I've often thought my race red would look nice with some white racing stripes, but feel those would clash with my black stripes on the sides. Is there an easy way to remove these if I decide to go down that path?

You can usually heat it up and remove it.

There are other ways like using Adhesive removed, or an eraser wheel. Just be careful if you do get an eraser wheel. Don't want to mess up the paint (although it can be done without any problem).

warm day...carefully pick the edge with your fingernail and pull at a 90 degree angle down the body.

easy-peasy

I did rockers and hood on my girls car in like 20 minutes. Only think is are you garaged? Reason I ask is some colors and sun as well as other factors including time can sometimes lead to telling the difference of where they were at because of sun fade and such. Just someting to think about. We didnt notice but it was garaged.

Modern base/clear paint doesn't fade the way older single stage paint did. I removed the factory stripes from my 89 Shelby Daytona after 13 years and removed the flame graphic I put on my wife's PT Cruiser after 10 years. Once I had cleaned off the adhesive residue and polished the cars you could not tell there ever had been any graphics. Both these cars spent their lives out doors too.

Parker, have you done this yet. Curious how hard they were to remove since I have been thinking about removing them on mine as well.

Just peel them off. The trick is after you peel them off, get a magic eraser and a bottle of rubbing alcohol. Soak the eraser with alcohol and use it to gently remove all the left over residue. Do NOT rub too hard, just take your time until its all clean.

I've taken vinyl off many o times, it's very easy when it's warm out. Just heat the starting point with a hair dryer is necessary, but it comes off no prob once you get started.

Thanks for the tips. I think they take away from the aggressive feel of the car and have been wanting to remove them since I got the car.

Are they the club of america stripes? I hate those factory rockers that fade.

I haven't taken mine off. Really battling about it haha I like the cleaner look without them but after hearing some on here am nervous that the paint will look different because of being outside in the sun.

mine were on for 3-4 months and it took me 10 minutes total. I didn't have to do anything other then pull them off. I really like it better without them but this is a opinion bit.
