I tried to have a sleeper in high school. I had a 396 in a 71 Chevelle though. The thunder it created gave it away. The high rise intake, and carbs that could be seen in the reflection of the hood under the massive hood scoop wasn't much of a disguise either.

The kid is 16. I know how to make a true sleeper. I really dont know if I would want my 16 year old racing in the streets though. I'm trying to be responsible without telling the how to of hiding a nitrous system.

Ultimate Sleeper?

Nitrous. It's going to need a power adder.
Smart thing to do is, save the money, invest it, then later on build the car.

Most likely these ppl are older than you?!! They are jealous cause when they were 16 they didn't have a car like yours. Be confident in everything you do. They are looking for a reaction. Don't give them one.

Your ego doesn't need to revolve around the opinions of others. Yes, it sucks being the butt of a few jokes, but those jokes mean nothing. I likely drive one of the slowest cars on this forum, and I don't care. I have also ridden some of the fastest bikes on the planet. I'm no more or less of a man.

I can assure you that the haters are nothing more than spoiled, spoon fed brats that have never worked for a thing in their life.

No, I don't have any Mustang racing vids. All of my stuff is running street, pro street, and super street bikes. I have driven a few cars, but I suck on the strip with a car.

Yep, I have an NHRA license. I have an SCCA license. I am slow on four wheels.

Sell it. You would need around at least 40-50k and that still might not be enough.

Checkout the top thread "A beginner's guide to modifying your V6". Also, take a look at the specs of the 60 and 70 era muscle cars, these new v6's I'd bet would outrun allot of them. I had a 97 LT1 SS, the cyclone V6 has similar HP, higher red line and almost as much torque. Keep in mind there's always a bigger dog out there, build something you can have fun with and afford.

A "sleeper" is a vehicle that doesn't look fast, but it really is fast.
A late model Mustang would make a horrible sleeper, in my opinion.

For 5-6 grand, you could go find a crappy old car and a junk yard LSx engine, and build a true sleeper that will shut up all of your idiot buddies for good!

You are really full of yourself, aren't you pal?

For a few years now, I have prided myself in the fact that I have the slowest car on this website.

If you can stretch your budget to 7k, I would get the jmp twin turbo kit for about 5.5k just get the essentials. Then come on down to Georgia and get it installed for 500 at tb built performance and then have a buddy or family member tow your car over to MPT in Florida.

You don't need to deal with them, I'm sure most of the kids at your school can't even keep their v8 mustangs in a straight line and I'm not even going to speak on camaros. But my advice is learn how to drive your car because trust me once you do that then you will understand how fast it really is then tell all these haters they can run it at the track. You just have to gain respect from them.

I've said it before and i'll say it again haha... whatever you think it will cost to boost your car, double it, and that might be near what it will actually cost you. The big things are easy to account for, its always the little things that nickle and dime you to death.

I would just save the money and enjoy it as it is. Nothing worse than having to call your parents to come tow you home from a Target parking lot because something you tried to do on a budget went wrong -_-
