2014 v6 oil leak, what??

I HAVE A 2014***performance pack with 20k. Stock under hood except air intake. I noticed some spots on my drive way.

So I popped the hood and its oil. Down on the splash guard and by the lower pulley (crank pulley?). Now I'm worried. Any advice?

Could this just be Fords techs doing a messing oil change or something different

Anytime I suspect an oill leak I look to see if it was slung or dripped, if slung it would have to come from something moving, if dripped right above or maybe a little in front of where it is dripped. You also need to compensate for air movement.
Run your finger under the oil filter and see if there is any oil there. If someone did an oil change without dropping the splash guard it can be pretty messy.
If it is leaking from the front seal take it in and have it looked at, should be under the 5/60,000 for power train. A seal would also have oil on the engine from air movement blowing it back.

Who did your oil change and how long ago was it? I would be shocked if your engine was leaking oil. It could be the filter is not on tight enough or the gasket slipped when putting it on. And like Siber said, our guard underneath has some square patterns that can catch oil when changing the oil filter, which is messy as hell due to the location.

How large are the spots?

w/o insulting check & monitor your oil level...Hawk asked a good ? it's easy enuf to spill some when changing. You can spray a warm (NOT hot) engine with a 30% simple green and lightly rinse to clean engine and check for new oil but I would look before doing this.

most common is spillage from change, 2nd is loose/bad filter or gasket. Anything else is kinda rare but stuff does happen and if it's bad = wtty

keep us posted

You know, a good racked for the quick-lube place would be not changing the oil at all and just spraying a little on the splash guard and front of engine to make customers think it was changed.

Sorry, my mind's in the gutter...LOL

I got a Focus loaner car a few years ago. While i was checking out the motor, i noticed a small leak from the oil filter. I figured it was too loose so i took my oil filter socket and tried to snug it up. It wouldn't budge so i loosened it a little and the leak stopped. I guess an oil filter can leak if it is too loose or too tight
