This makes me recall my younger days of 30 plus years ago. Anyway, all my friends had tricked out, high hp camaros, chevelles, mustangs, etc. where I had a 240z with a lot of attention to the suspension. We would alley race in parts of the city that were effectively abandoned (not for safety, just no cops). Short version, my little straight six would eat every one's lunch once you started stacking up the turns. My buddys never grasped why they felt on the line of out of control and I didn't even seem bothered. Unusable power is an impediment. Moral: The world isn't measured in 1/4 mile increments and a tight auto cross course will humble any high hp car driver. That and I'm cheap!

This is the thread that never ends! It goes on and on my friends! Some people started...........Oh never mind!
Yes Money is a big motivator and I can afford a 5.0 or even a 5.2, but now that I own my 3.7, I would not take a stock 2013 5.0 with normal wear and tear on an even exchange for my 3.7, NO WAY! Mine has been garage kept, has only 15,000 miles and it has about $4K in mods where tha money came mostly when my Father passed so it's extra special for that reason too! But there's more now that I own it and have learned about it and have modified it! I have also had it on a road coarse with 5.0's and with my Mods (added to the fact that it's a Performance Pack Equipped car), I had no problem staying with the 5.0's! They caught up in the straights to be sure but in braking zones and in the turns, I pulled away every time! Yes folks, I love my 3.7!

Location plays a big roll on insurance too, I had a '12 Raptor and my monthly was $62 in Kansas, here in Florida my lil '11 3.7 is $110.

I bought my V6 for these below reasons:

- I enjoy reviving my engine to redline more than sheer power.

- Smaller engine warms up quicker than bigger ones. I need it to get to operating temperature ASAP, so that I can floor it.

- More space in the engine bay for me to mess around.

- V6 is more fuel efficient

- Cheaper

I never regret for not getting a V8, because despite my love for Mustang, my next sports car will not be a Mustang GT. It will either be a Corvette Stingray or a Porsche Cayman. Life is too short to drive only Mustangs.

The Vette is on my short list for my next car too

Might be many years from now. I only have 25,700 miles on my 2011.

I hear ya on that, I'll probably keep my v6 for a while since it's my modding guinea pig, it's the first new car I've ever owned and first car I've ever modded.

The Stingrays are awesome, 3 people in my office drive them as DDs, very fun cars. I have no idea what I'll be looking for when the new sports car time comes, but whatever it is I may need to have build an additional garage before I parts ways with my V6.

One of the VPs in my office has a sick red and black Porsche 911 GT3 RS, definitely one of the nicest cars I've seen up close outside of a car show.

Why did you buy your v6 instead of a v8?

Hm, I think I'd take the Boss. Based on maintenance costs and up keep. Porsche's are expensive!

If king 13 is stock and is willing to find out, I only live about a 1 hour south of him. I've got at around 4-5 cars in my local Chapter all with various mods and we all would be willing to run a stock 5.0.
No thank you. I know my car is slow right now. And will probably be that way for at least another year.

Personally gas mileage wasn't a big issue for me since I get a bunch of free gas cards from a family member anyways. But the INSURANCE was crazy considering I'm 19.

Hello - I just purchased a 2014 V6 Premium (17k miles) - with the panoramic roof option, Pony Package, 3:31 gear and rear sensing package. It's a great car - balanced with plenty of power and function. The car appealed to me because of the styling cues from the 60s-era bodies. The V6 has plenty of power - more hp than the older V-8 cars (pre-2010). Good gas mileage and insurance rates are just a plus for me. As for the V-8/V-6 debate, I really don't care what others think. Love the car - the roof rocks. Ride Sally ride.
