Aftermarket remote start system

Thinking about adding a remote start system. I'd like it to operate from my Android smart phone.

If you've added one to your car, what brand and model? Easy or difficult install? Product quality? Problems?

Any help is appreciated!

I had a smart start direct in the wife's 2013 Honda CRV. She loved it...if she had cell service she could start it...

I did not install it...but it was slick the only downfall was the prepaid monthly fee about $4/month for 3 yr service.

I had a viper smart start system installed in my girlfriends Civic at a local Best Buy. If you can hold out, wait till Black Friday sales. You'll get some seriously awesome deals with install and warranty included. You have to buy the "smart start module" separately I believe

I added an EXCALIBUR 2-Way Security Alarm and Remote Start system to my car. Needed the alarm for the upgraded Stereo system. Great System!

I bought a plug and play remote starter, only had to tap into 3 wires and was good to go, using the factory remote press the lock button 3X and Vroooom😎 haha but downside is it only has the range that our ****ty remotes have, but nice when I'm at the house and can warm up or cool down my car before I head out

Fortin, evo-fort1 you have to buy a programming module too but Amazon sells a kit with it all installed and programmed, so just plug and play here is the link

Aftermarket remote start system

I put one of the fortin ones in my Escape... About a 20 min installation. Did purchase from Amazon preprogrammed for the three lock. No android remote that I know of.

I have a EasyGo Smart Key system in my Mustang and it's definitely a huge install. But it has push to start, alarm, and remote start (which I still have to setup since I have a manual). Still no android remote here either.

With the Fortin is there any way to disable the horn or do you get to annoy your neighbors as a bonus?

You have to either bypass the clutch sensor (don't recommend that though) or build a neutral safety switch. That will prevent the car from starting when in gear.

It is more work than I would want to invest. You would also have to leave the car in neutral when parked.

Parking in 1st or reverse coupled with with the parking brake is the safest way to ensure your 3000lbs vehicle doesn't roll away. I do not advise leaving the car in neutral when parked unless you chock the wheels.

Yours doesn't honk on the 3rd key press? Mine will honk as many time as long as I continue clicking lock after the 2nd click

Discovered something else the other day...

We can hit the door lock three times on the door and start the car. We don't have to use the key fob. So I can use the entry pad, then hit the lock button three times and start the car if my wife has the keys and is still in the store.

The pad on the door to unlock the car.

But the lock x3 was just pressing the door lock button inside.

It's not required for the start... Just to get you in without a key lol

I have 2016 with the 201a option.
