Straight pipes

Good or bad idea ? Am thinking of installing straight pipes on my v6 stang. Does anyone have videos of a v6 2013-2014 with straight pipes?

Going to sound like crap. I have some Magnaflow race (straight pipes) axle backs i run for a week or two a year just for a change. I have a noticeable loss of low end torque when i run them. Our v6's need a certain amount of back pressure and you won't have it with straight pipes

I have the catted x pipe to cut down on 'rasp' a little, instead of adding 2 foot long resonators. We don't have emissions test where i live

Terrible video but you get the idea I've had it for a full year now and still love it. I get compliments but the MPT ghost can tune helped deepen the sound a good but in low rpm. Personally I love the deep sound down low and the rasp up top. If you hate rasp this is not for you.

To be honest, it sounds kind of sweet. I made some muffler deletes for a week when I was going to the track. It sounded sooo mean and actually pretty good. It was ridiculously loud though and so I put the stockers back on (I drive 75miles a day to/from work).

I might build some muffler bypasses with electric cutouts to open at full throttle at some point though. And I'm sure with tuning, you could pick up a couple hp.

I just can't believe how expensive mufflers are for these cars...

The price is what made go with a full straight piped system. If I were to go with anything I'd go with borla but I can't justify paying that much for axlebacks. I plan on getting longtubes and having a manual cutout right after the headers.

V6 with straight pipes sounds like a swarm of bees trapped in a bag full of dick tips.

I'd normally agree with you on it sounding bad, but this particular V6 sounds good. It doesn't sound like a gutless ricer, and it doesn't sound like a V8. It's got kind of a modern sports car sound.

If you've got a 2011+ V6 and a 17mm (maybe it was 15) wrench, go try it. It takes about 10min to get the mufflers off.

I'm glad I did it instead of listening to these guys lol, but it sounds deeper ever since I took the x pipe off. I have true divorced duals all the way back and it just sounds mean as hell. Still ricey but anything under 3.5k is just mean. My friend has a 15 v6 with the same setup but with and h pipe and his sounds amazing too. But different strokes for different folks.

Keep in mind that keeping them separate will rob you of HP. You get significantly better cylinder scavenging with the exhaust connecting.

Can't say that, people will get offended.

Different strokes for different folks though.

Yeah of course but I'll sacrifice that for the sound.

Originally I wanted to go straight pipes until I heard a full exhaust setup with one and it sounded so bad. So I vote no. There should be tons of videos on youtube though if your still undecided.
