I messed up...

I went outside this morning to go to work and realized I left my windows down... All night... In the rain. I have the base model interior (black cloth seats) and they're soaked. Does anyone have any tips for drying, and mold prevention? I was thinking Odoban might do the trick. Also, I'm in Florida, where humidity is insanely high

Park in a garage with the doors open and a fan blowing through it. Air circulation is the best way to avoid the musky mold smell. If you can shop vac any standing water I would do that. Good luck!

This is the only solution I know of to dry a rain soaked car. I have done the same thing in my truck. The shop vac is your friend.

Then as ox said, open the doors and let it dry. If you can circulate that hot air outside it is even better.

You shouldn't have a moldy, mildew smell.

At home depot they have these bags you hang around your house to absorb moisture and they are awesome. They leave a nice sent and dont stain. They come in a box of three, get a box and hang all three in your cabin for a couple weeks after you air it out like ox said. Id hang one on the back pocket of each seat, then maybe the third on the pass side floor area.

This will combat the humidity and help pull out any lingering moisture so you dont get mold.

Good luck!

PS Damprid is the name of the stuff I was talking about

You can also take the seats out and dry them separately, it should speed up the process as well.

I'd put it in the garage but that would mean the Shelby would have to be outside

Never mind, guess the V6 will have to grow mold. Can't be having you leave the Shelby parked outside like a commoner.

The six will be fine open outside. It will likely get more airflow outside.

It should dry out and not mold.

If you get a mold smell (even in your HVAC system), pick up one of these and let it run for a couple hours with the recirc on and windows up. It does the trick.

My wrangler has a tonneau cover soft top and when it rains hard on me, I eventually get mildew smell. This kills it like a champ!

The only thing I'd be worried about is stains in your seats. For that, you can mix up rubbing alcohol and water (idk like 50-50) and scrub them. That should get the rings out.

Don't tell the 5.0 people you have a Shelby . They think the ones with a v6 are poor . I won't tell them i paid more for my v6 (every option offered but i didn't want the glass roof) than i could have bought a GT premium for. I also won't tell them i bought a new 2014 Edge Limited for $43,000 a couple years ago and i have a F150 to pull my boat

Okay, your point is?

I could've gotten a C6 Z06 and a beater instead of a 14 GT and a 15 Cruze LTZ. You didn't want to afford a GT/Shelby so you could have other toys, since obviously money has to come from somewhere.

How hard is that to understand?

My point is, some of us bought the v6 because we wanted it. Not to be jumped on by people with the 5.0 saying were poor or someday you can move up to the GT. This v6 Forum, once was the best v6 Forum on the internet. Its been going down hill for the last couple months

You are the one who keeps this type of stigma alive. There was no one saying anything yet you decided to spark the conversation and completely derail a thread. No one cares you have a v6 (except you clearly). So how about you stop playing the victim and move on and maybe your precious v6 forum will once again be as great as it once was.

I personally only spoke up to help out OP. Only reason I mentioned the garage was to avoid another surprise rain shower while trying to dry her out. Oh you have a Shelby in the garage? Sweet. That's all I have to say about that.

Probably has something to go with the mindset of owners.

Going from 3.7 to 5.0, a lot of 3.7 owners always felt like they had something to "prove" and show others their cars were indeed capable of being "cool".

All the GT owners I hang with now just love driving and cars in general. Obviously there's bad seeds, as evidenced by the plethora of YouTube videos, but I prefer this crowd more.

So OP, is your car dry and stink-free?

If it's dry and there's a little lingering stink, you can try renting an ozone machine and running it inside the car for a few hours.
