gt parts for v6

So I have a friend who can't keep his 12 gt and is going to trade it in for something cheaper now before he does I was hoping I could take some of the parts off of his car and install them on mine. What parts fit and would be an upgrade to the car.

Don't say engine guys

Most suspension and appearance parts should work for you.

Also, a list of his mods might help find what could fit.

As sloppy as most dealer techs are you could prob swap most of the parts and they wouldnt have a clue... Problem is the next person that buys that GT will likey not know it at first either and get hosed. I'd have a hard time screwing over a future fellow mustang owner.

Agree with hawk, only use his aftermarket parts and dont swap your v6 parts for his gt (oem) parts. Not the right thing to do, and not safe.

The truth is that after 2011 most all OEM V-6 parts are the same as the GT. Axles, springs, and even shocks and brakes are identical. Well there is a 1" larger rotor on the front in the GT but the calipers are the same,

I could be wrong but I thought that was only true for the premium V6s?

If they're aftermarket wheels, the profile might look more complementary on the 6 (19s from 17s).

Premiums have no mechanical differences except 18" wheels.

Not all premiums came with 18s. Mine came with 17s fyi. Many versions of the premiums out there it seems. i.e. mine came with puddle lights and many didn't.

Ah, that is what I meant. So the stock GTs have the same brakes and suspension as the performance package, correct?

Actually the Performance Package has better suspension than the Stock GT, and only the automatics have the GT rotors, the Manual still has the V6 brakes with the GT pads.

Not exactly. I have the PP V6 and these are the differences and similarities. Front rotor is same as the 05 to 09 GT. It's bigger than stock V6, but smaller than a 5.0 stang. The front sway bar is the same as a 5.0. Transmission is the same but with a much lower 1st gear ratio. PP V6 has 3.31 limited slip differential and GT500 LCAs. Wheels are 19 inch foundry (8.5 inch) with Pirellis or Goodyear summer rubber (autos got goodyears). Also there is a Boss Strut Tower Brace. This was the best option for the 3.7 Lincoln Engine Car.

For your information the Brakes on the 05-10 GT's are the same size as the brakes for the 11-14 V6. The front sway on the Performance package might be the same as the GT, but I remember it being 1mm bigger or something like that but the rear and the Lower Control arms are SVT, Autos had the Bigger brakes since the transmission does not give you the same engine braking as the Manual, and all V6 Manuals have the same gears in the trans, the 3.31 make it seem like the gear is higher but it is not.

You are correct on the rotor size I believe except that stock manual V6s used a slightly smaller rotor. And yes the V6 ratios are the same. I was comparing to the 5.0 in that case, sorry for the confusion. Oh, and the SVT LCA's do match the GT500 spec
