After I had my bad experience with Diablo I went to SCT, I was happy with the way they treated me. I met with them at the 50th Mustang birthday party in Charlotte......nice people!

if it was only this one experience (more importantly this one person) consider giving them a chance to make it right. I stress to my guys we all mess up, it's how you deal with it afterwards that determines how good you are.

note: I'm not tuned and don't really have an interest in it.

I'd also use MPT. They would not directly supply an illegal setup, but that does not make them a bad tuning company IMO. I've always been satisfied with their tunes.

I was under the impression that they do supply illegal setups, and that it's more a matter of where and how the car is used.
As with loud mufflers and radar detectors, for example.

Not illegal at all, just not intended for use on public roads.

We know you said that. You also said it was not illegal at all, which is false.

Not intended and illegal are not the same thing.

I think they were just trying to say MPT will do something that's for "offroad/race use only" under the assumption you won't use it on public roads. *wink*, *wink*, . I know for tunes they specifically make you sign a waiver if you select the no cats option.

Steeda states the same thing on their website as well. I find it interesting that Bama doesn't, unless I missed it.

Just my 2 cents here, but don't let 1 bad customer service rep or experience dictate whether a company is good or bad. I know the original post was most likely just a rant of frustration, but instead I would have asked to see his supervisor instead of hanging up on him.

If that rep is really that bad he won't last long at that or any company for that matter, most people seem to have a good experience with MPT from what I've read. I'd give them another shot with a different person and see how it goes. If it continues to be poor service then I would agree with you 100%.

Definitely, I can understand your frustrations but given that this seems to be the exception rather than the rule, I'd not hesitate to trust MPT to tune my car (which they did, 13k miles ago).

I've had two small problems with my MPT tunes. Each time i called MPT, the phone was answered by the 4th ring. Mike had me a new redone tune within 3 days, free of charge

I don't think you read his post very carefully... A fair share of us have deleted our cats and are still able to pass emissions with the proper tune..... And besides he is posting about poor customer service........

Yep, the Rep that he got clearly didn't give him any support whatsoever, but I would have called back a few a few minutes later to see if I could get someone else.
That being said I'll just post this from the MPT website.

I can tell you for fact MPT is the best tuner out their for the 3.7 stang. Not saying Bama is not awesome because they are. With that said, MPT is the best. I've been rolling MPT for years now and most likely longer than any one on this site. Been running MPT since July 2013 and have their ghost cam tune as well

Just about all the higher performance 3.7 owners are running MPT. Just look and talk with cyclone Mustangs on FB and they will all tell you the same .

MPT has the 3.7 perfected.

I've been saying for a couple of years now that I want to give Mpt a try. I just have had zero issues with Bama over the last 3 years.
What does mpt charge now for a tune anyway? Was it like 75$?

Here's howI see it. If mpt didnt advertise that their tune could do that, I dont see how a consumer could have a legit gripe. Just because other tunes did it doesnt mean mpt is in the wrong. If you buy a product based on assumptions you are asking for trouble.

I'm not sure what Bama tunes typically dyno but as a point of reference I practically received 10hp/10tq throughout the entire rpm band on my tune w/ full exhaust. In regards to there race vs street tune I got 1 hp difference lol and felt no big difference in shifts. All in all good luck with your choice.

I never have had a Bama tune. I have a couple MPT tunes, a Steeda and a Evolution Performance (Jon Lund) $200 tune. The MPT tunes pull the hardest. I'm running the Evolution Performance tune now, the shifts on my automatic feel a little better with this tune. My automatic will bark in second gear and a small chirp when it shifts into 3rd gear with all three tunes

I use just the SCT 91box tune and I get super firm shifts and the 2nd gear bark and 3rd chirp as well. It's my opinion that the heart of all these tunes are the same, improved shifting and compression ratio. There's really not much else to it from what I can tell.

And before some people jump down my throat, compression RATIO can be altered. It's the reason the octane requirement is altered. A higher air ratio requires a greater octane. Unless what I have managed to find was false anyway.

????

If the compression can be altered is it through valve timing or does the octane requirement have to do with ignition timing? idk but guess the 2nd 1/2 of my question is closer to truth.

trying to learn

Makes two of us but I found a automotive engineer that said compression ratio can be changed through air and fuels mixtures. Ive found a few "experts" that explained this is how tunes get a hp boost, but its the internet so who knows. Lol
