Used BBK LTH from BBK

Has anyone ever bought used headers from BBK directly? They have a ceramic LTH for $470 vs the normal $600.

Headers and Used are 2 words that to me do not belong together.
Truthfully why would a company that makes headers have a used set around. Returned because they leaked or fitment wasn't correct, used for testing????

I'd have to agree with Siber. Why or how else would BBK be selling used headers. I know I returned 2 sets before the third was "acceptable" and they were new. In my experience with BBK, quality really takes a back seat. I'd be cautious with used.

My BBK ceramic coated long tubes are starting to rust . Might go with uncoated stainless steel next time in a few years if i still have my Mustang .

Seems to me BBK could clean up the used headers to like new condition and sell them as new.

Hey, just read this thread. I am returning my BBK headers for rust issues. They offered to strip and refinish them and send them back but I couldn't have the car down for that length of time. I'm sure when they get mine back they'll strip them down, refinish them and call them used.
In regards to buying their stuff, I'm happy that they stood by the product. I'm not sure if they've gotten past their QC issues but at least they stand by their products

Rust can be more likely depending on where you live right?

I think BBK has a 1 year warranty . Mine are more than 3 years old .

I live in Tennessee and we average 6 inches or so of snow per year. I don't drive my Mustang (very little) in the rain and i have a 4x4 truck for the snow

Mine were two years old and got driven in the worst crap the northeast could throw at them. I always wash after snow storms but even so

It's usually mild in Texas so hopefully I'll be good.

You're probably fine out there, my headers had it pretty rough on a daily driver. I'll be curious to see how the new ones hold up that I'm putting on

They sent a new set. I've been sweating like crazy today trying to put them in, I forgot how hard it is to get a wrench on those bolts. Ugh.

If you dont already have one then get yourself a pair of : flex head ratchet wrenches. Harbor freight has a set for $26

5 Pc Metric Flex-Head Combination Ratcheting Wrench Set

or Home depot/lowes have them for about $13-20ish for one.

I just did it again this weekend in 90 degree heat. Ugh!
Here's one price of advice I don't see anyone giving - take out the starter motor. It's two 13mm bolts and you can just put it aside on top of the control arm. Once you've down that you've got good access to the lower three bolts on the passenger side. And great access to the infamous rear lower passenger side bolt.
Another piece of advice - once you've removed the cast iron manifolds clean up the threads on the studs. Oil them and work the nuts back and forth on them. Why? Because you'll be able to finger tighten the nuts almost all the way down and that'll save you a lot of wrenching time.
If you have more questions just PM me and I'll give you my cell phone so you can call to ask questions

And when you're done it'll look really pretty like this: Click image for larger version

One other thing, I upgraded to an x-pipe at the same time. Virtually no difference from the factory h pipe hybrid. A little less popping and maybe a bit better acceleration after 3k. Not really worth it for the headache Click image for larger version

So BBK called me 3 days ago and told me that the used set had been sold but they hadn't updated their website to reflect it. Have to wait until September but now I'm getting a new set for the same price. Not too bad.

Just got your text. I've thought about that, too much of hassle to
Put them back in for emissions testing. Plus I don't know if straight pipes offer much of an improvement in sound/performance.
Lastly, what do you do with the O2 sensors!

Then you'd want high flow cats, an OR mid pipe nets your around ~10 WHP, or so according to the folk wiser than me.

I have a stainless steel H pipe waiting to be put on, I'll let you know if I can feel a difference.
