Can someone recommend resonators?

I have 2012, with Mac performance mid pipe, Mac axle backs and Mac headers. Sounds great but the drone is unreal. If anyone could talk to me about resonators pros/cons or just recommend some I greatly appreciate it.

V/r

Some noob

I am actually in the process of installing "Glasspacks" on mine (same thing as resonators/mufflers really...). I also have the Mac Axle Backs but No shorties and the Lethal Performance H-Pipe.

I went through Summit Racing - grabbed the Jones Exhaust Glasspacks - overall length is 23 inches but the length of the glasspack itself is 18 inches.

I will more than likely have them installed where everyone else does and right after the mid pipe.

Good luck man!

Looking to be $100 to $120 to cut and weld both sides.

Drone is almost completely gone!

The rasp though....nope....But I am blaming my MAC axle backs since they are a "Chambered" exhaust....It'll go a little higher before hitting RASP CITY but only by 500-1000 RPM more.

So the 3k-4k strong RASP is still there. Below that though, way deeper, almost no drone and thats in all gears believe it or not (highway driving almost silent since you can hold the same RPMs - manual of course)

I went a head and got the Trident Motorsports Axlebacks in Black with Rolled tips. $350 shipped. Should be here in two or three days.

At least with the axle backs I can do the install so thatll save me money.

So far I've spent on exhaust pieces/installs:

$400 MAC's
$100 Lethal Performance H-Pipe
$20 Retune for the H-Pipe
$90 to Install the H-Pipe
$50 Glasspacks
$150 to Install Glasspacks

$810 total so far for Exhaust pieces.

Thats not counting the Trident AB's since I have not received them yet but since we are counting....another $360 so $1170....mainly for sound too....I know the H-pipe helps some with performance but not much Im sure....addiction....lol

Well that's good to hear. Was thinking about running borla s type or magna flow quads but can't decide. I'm sittin at 1160 now. Don't think I want to drop another 600+ on a zero hp gain and mild sound change

I used 12" vibrant. didn't kill all the rasp but did remove alot of it and moved what was left to higher rpms. If I could have fit 18" in the mid pipe I would have used them. 18" probably would have removed all of it.

Recently had my car dynoed and I over heard the shop guys saying how good it sounded.

Yup 2.5's! Use the link I provided as a template for other brands you may want. Those exact measurements fit perfectly after the H-Pipe. No additional metal or anything needed. Cut, sanded down the edges and welded is the steps I saw them take. Obviously some things I may have missed since it was a real feel of 118 degrees that day........and has been for weeks....

Just in case anyone is keep tabs on this post.

I received my Trident Axlebacks with in 24 hours from ordering! Amazing craftsmanship and quality is top notch. They are almost bulletproof looking.

Great sound as well, very deep and the "pops" & "crackles" are also deep sounding as well.

So much better than the MAC's by a mile. I havent driven on the Highway yet to see if there is any drone but from home to work I heard zero drone!

Well as for as the "butt dyno" goes my car definitely feels faster and lighter from a dig. Other than that it is hard for me to tell where in the power band if/does shine. If that makes sense. I really do not plan on doing a dyno run - well reasons....

The H-Pipe alone made the sound deep but at WOT it was....how should I put this....a sound to be desired for? Not sure. But what I did know was It was not for me. Sounded like angry bees trying to escape a can that was on fire!

Added the glasspacks/resonators/mufflers/whatever you want to call them definitely made the sound even deeper and the DRONE! Wow its almost gone - I thought for sure that would be one thing that would not go away but it almost has! - But once again at WOT the beast just screamed with the H-Pipe not as raspy but still ear bleeding!

Decided to change out the MAC axle backs for the Trident Motorsports axle backs and the sound is immensely better - its actually an exhaust tone now and not a "noise" coming out the back.

SO next step is BBK shorty headers. I really wish there were more brands for shortys....

BBK Shortys, Lethal H-Pipe (with GT Resonators), Jones Glasspacks on the OTA pipes and Trident Motorsports out the back. The game continues...

Thanks for your write up on the H pipe!
I actually have installed the bbk shorty. I got to say I can definitely feel more power down at the 3k range. Not so much up top though.
Good luck with the install btw
