Accelerate quickly, yellow wrench light, car won't accelerate??

So this has happened twice, when I accelerate very hard I get a yellow wrench light and the car will not accelerate any more, idles rough. I turn the key off and on, it takes a second to get started but after runs ok and the wrench light goes away. Ideas?

Does the wrench light stay solid or blink? Could be a bad coil as well.

Wrench light stays solid. I turn they car off and back on and it goes away. It's only happened when I slammed the gas, hauling ***. Twice in 2 weeks.

Bad coil can act up on wot. It's happened to me. Same effect after light went on too. Then normal driving later.

Sounds like throttle body to me. I had replaced mine from AM for the larger one and if was defective and that is what it did.

Sounds like if you see a orange spark when you test it, it means a bad coil. Again, Im not expert so be very careful checking this. Sounds like if you dont follow the steps carefully you could damage your engine. Keep us posted plz.

The throttle body had some gunk on it. Cleaned it up. I'll give this a go initially.

Also, if yout tb had gunk in it you may want to get some maf cleaner and clean your maf. That could be a factor as well.

Instead of guessing what triggered the CEL, why don't you scan for codes?

It's happened 4 times in 2 days. Finally threw a code. Throttle Body Actuator fault / Throttle Body stuck open.

Any suggestions? Will the car run like this?

It also showed traction control lights on, blinking in and out. Could it be a bad tune? Bad PCM?

Accelerate quickly, yellow wrench light, car won't accelerate??

Maybe a bad TPS? Where is the TPS located? I'm on freaking vacay and the pos has to start acting up...

The TPS is in the throttle body which is not repairable. Replacing the entire unit is the only option. Good luck.

Ok man. Thanks for the info. So does it sound likely that the Throttle Body is the culprit?

The symptoms are consistent and the codes pretty much verify that the fault is in the throttle body mechanism. The ECU is pretty fussy about it because the engine is "drive by wire". It goes into "limp mode" to protect you. Can you imagine if your throttle was really "stuck open"? That might cause an accident. LOL

I'm guessing it is the throttle body. My car was acting similar and that is what it was on mine. Replaced the throttle body with the BBK and no further issues.
