Metal noise during acceleration

Sometimes during moderate to hard acceleration, the car will make a sort of metal pitch or screech noise for a second or two. It only happens during acceleration, not while cruising or parked.

The car is an automatic which is stock, except for some axlebacks which have been on for some months now and I've never heard that noise before.

Any idea what this could be?

I'm not sure. It sounds louder if I open the windows and I think it's coming from the rear of the car. It happens around 3K-4K RPM.

So not sure if you're saying it's a screeching noise or a metallic sound, not sure what concern would cause noises that usually don't come from the same problem...screeching noise could definitely be a belt especially if it happens for a short time on acceleration..Can you make it happen or does it "just happen"
