splash guard

so i hit a rabbit on my way home from work a while back and it tore my splash guard off, stripping the holes that held it. i'm certain my car can live without the guard given i live in arizona - not much rain, but i'd like to install a chin spoiler soon. not much knowledge on it. can't really find good install videos. would i need to fix this to do so?Click image for larger version

Are you talking about the shield you have to lower when you change the oil? If so, I would fix it with some nuts, bolts and washers. You'll also suck up a lot of dust and crap from the highway. I have read a guy with a GT, motor would run a little hotter without the shied so he fixed it. If this isn't what you are talking about disregard what I just said

just wondering if those holes are required to install a chin spoiler. I feel like I am asking a dumb question, but i just wanted to make sure. i'm not very familiar with chin spoilers lol. i've seen somewhere someone used 3M tape. obviously you shouldn't only be using that, but is it doable?

They weren't used on my Stillen chin spoiler. It was installed over the factory chin spoiler without removing it, held on with 3M tape and I had to drill a few new holes for self taping screws that came with the Stillen.

Research the one you are buying. Should be install instructions on their web site.

mine was similar (not as bad) after an incident with a hunk of retread. I replaced oil shield/splitter using what clips I could and silicone RTV caulk. I've read post where folks have hood flutter after ignoring this.

Tasca Ford or similar for parts

Yeah don't leave the car without the shield under the radiator. Mine I guess got hit by rocks and just a small corner got lifted and I couldn't even do 60 mph without the hood rattling and not just a bit it was a lot of rattle. So no matter what path you go keep the shield on.

alright, thanks for the help guys
putting the shield back on somehow is my main priority.

also the chin spoiler I was talking about previously came in, and is installed. just used some self tapping screws on the sides and 3M tape underneath. came out pretty well. only took 15 minutes. couldn't be happier.
