Woke Up and Found

This greeting me in my driveway. Had a family get together in the garage Sunday so this was the only night I haven't been able to garage it and this happens.

Had a 2011 MacBook Air in my car they took. It was my work computer. Luckily I'm the technology director so I don't have to answer to anyone about it being stolen and I had other electronics in my car they didn't get ahold of. I have the security package and my alarms were armed but the breaking window didn't set them off and the moved the seat forward slowly to block the motion detector in the maplights. Safelite quoted me $275 to clean up and replace the window.

Ask for an Autolite/FORD windshield - not the cheaper replacement they use. It will have the Autolite/FORD logo in the corner. Better for resale and is the correct part.

It's in a great neighborhood, its just that the little thugs in town know that's where to hit. My brother works at the GM dealership in town and they're gonna get the OEM window from their Ford dealership a hour away and install it. Everything will come out to $175, will just need to pay more to have either the window tint matched or the entire car retinted.

Was your computer in a briefcase, one that could be seen by looing into the car?

Nothing pisses me off more than for some low life punk who's too lazy to get a job but instead steal something of mine that I worked hard for to pay for myself. I know there's a place in hell for people like that and I would love to be the one to send them there. Sorry about your loss Parker.

Woke Up and Found

At least the only damage was to the glass, no body, interior, etc. You don't have to worry about body work.

Only thing I'm wondering is does the glass breaking not set off the alarm? I had it armed and that didn't set it off and my headrest blocked the motion detector from that part of the window.

when I read you had the alarm this is what I was wondering. Did you arm it with the physical key in the door? That bypasses motion and shock sensors.

If it was armed normally I would test motion detector.

+1 on Grab Me's at least it's just glass over body work but still sux as you know.

forgot to mention pros will break out the rear side windows so they don't have to "work" on broken glass.

Armed it with the key FOB. I know my alarm works because I have numerous times armed it with my fiance in the car and motion detectors pick her up and set the alarm off. Just not sure why the break in didn't set them off, unless it did and I somehow slept through it.

on mine (installed myself) the LED flashes funky if the alarm went off. I think Ford does not mount the LED where it's visible (not the lock icon on dash).
