Dear all,
I asked insurance quotations for a V6 (2011) and a V8 (2005).
I am surprised that they are almost the same ($40 of difference).
Some of you made an argument than the insurances for V6 were much lower... It does not finally seem significant... any thought on it?
Best
JM
I say this is a fact because one time I went to the Turkey Rod Run at Daytona Speedway.
I pulled to the side to wait for some club members and a guy in a Corvette came in. He got stopped and they would not let him in because of his Corvette was too new.
He got mad and asked the ticket guy to see the person in charge.
The person in charge came and he asked why my 2012 Mustang was allowed in and his Corvette was not.
He was told: Mustangs are "MUSCLE CARS"
Corvettes are Sports cars.
The guy went berserk and burned rubber going out the gate. I ran into the guy at the Pizza stand that morning
I asked if he remembered me and my Mustang and he said "Was that you?"
I had to explain to him that I was going in with my Muscle Car Club and had the club parking sticker on my windshield.
I told him if he was in a club he would have gotten in.
He said the guy insulted his Corvette and I said "NO HE DIDN"T A CORVETTE IS AMERICAS SPORTS CAR""
He said, your right and we had a good slice of $4.00 Pizza and talked a while.
It was a great day at Daytona speedway. Ronnie
Just a different thought on this but couldn't insurance be more expensive for the v6 since it would look like v6 mustangs get in accidents more than v8's just due to the fact that there are much more v6 mustangs than v8's. I'm not saying v6 insurance is more expensive I'm just saying it pretty much evens them up in terms of monthly rate.
From someone that is going through agent school, it's all a combination of these things. Agents don't even know the full story.
Top factors:
Location even the next zip code over can be a significant increase.
Credit: length of credit history, length of prior insurance, payment history.
Homeowner vs Non HO
Other misc stuff including driving history, claims history.
And there's this dirty secret called your insurance report.
