After 7 years and 3 months my factory battery started to die. It read 12.1 volts in the afternoon and read 11.92 volts the next morning. I went with the battery from my local Ford dealer. It was $129.95, not a bad price for a 3 year battery.
I do the throttle calibration and the pulling of fuse #47 (automatic transmission) every month to keep things fresh. I'm starting to think, doing these things do nothing . After having my old battery out for a couple hours and putting in the new battery, my Mustang hasn't felt so powerful in a long time. I 'think' I'm going to start removing the negative side of the battery every month to keep thing 'fresh', instead of the pulling of the fuse and throttle calibration. Resetting the radio isn't so bad.
Just thought I would let everyone know what I experienced when I installed my new battery
mines 4 years old now, still reads around 14. dad keeps saying I should get a new battery bc its 4 years old now and I'm like ehhh it's fineeeeee. hahaah
Yep. You are on your last leg . You'll be lucky to make it through the summer. The first cold morning this coming winter all you will hear will be a few 'clicks' .
Actually a good voltage on a resting Battery is 12.6-12.9. A healthy battery should be putting out 2.1-2.2 per cell on a fully charged battery.
Also with the Charger on while doing tunes, most Ford garages put it on a charger while doing updates.
This is why I believe there is some sort of higher power. I made post #14 up there around noon today. Then been in the garage all day working on the Mustang. Take a shower and go grab a 6 pack and the battery in that truck just straight up dies on me... got a jump from someone and drove home. Driving the wife's car tomorrow to work and to get a new battery.
Eh its all good. Had a brand new 65 form factor battery in a running project/for parts Grand Cherokee I have for sale for cheap so I just canned it from the Jeep and I'll get a new battery for it whenever. All good for work tomorrow lol.
If you're looking for another upgrade, consider an AGM battery (e.g. Odyssey, etc.). Supposedly they'll last 2x-3x as long as a regular battery, don't self-discharge as quickly, and can tolerate deep discharging better.
Ppl overthink batteries IMO. Unless you need a deep cycle or have a big engine that needs a lot of cranking amps just get whatever the parts store has and keep it on a tender if you don't drive the vehicle often.
Econocraft at autozone is like $60 and works great. Put them in all my cars and never an issue.

I thought long and hard about buying a $250+ Battery like I did for my last car in 2007. A battery is just a 'crap shoot'. I have read some peoples battery last 3 weeks while some peoples battery (same brand) last 10 years
I had a gold top Duralast from AutoZone in my truck. That battery lasted 8 years before showing any signs of weakness.
