so my whole plan was to get black rims for the black stang, and now after bringing it in for my brakes to get fixed, they told me the tires are dry rotting pretty bad on the tread, so I need tires asap. well, it's only got 23k miles, but they're the stock crappy BF Goodrich tires.
Anyway, I want to get a wheel/tire set from AM. I want to get black rims definitely and all-season tires since i'm in NJ and will be driving in the snow. I have 17 inch stock rims as it is, so I'm looking to go up to atleast 19. Anyone have any suggestions?
Mine came with new Pirelli P Zeros. Just for laughs I drove it in a half inch of snow - had fun turning into my driveway. I saw them on TireRack for cheaper than you were quoted. Now have Goodyear Eagle F1 -so far they can handle fast-as-I-can-go thru the round- abouts.

woo all tires have arrived, as have lugnuts. today i should also be getting my tpms tool, and then tomorrow my steering rack stops.
anyone who put 19's on their V6 premium, did you find your tires rubbed now? i'd love to get away with not having to install it lol so i'm gonna install wheels first and see how bad they rub, then install the stops if i need them.
My wife's v6 rubs with 19 x 9.5 and 27" tires (265mm). It's at full lock though, like turning into a tight parking spot. I put 3/8" spacers on because it was quick and easy, but the steering locks are probably preferred.
I put 20x8.5’s on my 14 v6 and they never rubbed. Probably never turned to full lock though. Can’t think of a time I needed too. When you put the wheels on you should see if they sync up without the sync tool. Forget how much that thing cost but you might have been able to save some money if they sync up on their own.
was 46 bucks. how will I know if they sync? from what I'm reading it seems once people get to the point where the lights start flashing, in order to reset it they had to like fully deflate their tires to reset the tpms to allow them to sync... i'm not doin that lol
agreed..plus, isn't a locking lugnut just a lug with a specific key? if a carjacker really wanted your rims, he's gonna probably have a key..lol
either way i'd LOVE to not have tpms sensors. would be so much easier.
anyway, got my steering rack stops today, which means i've officially got all $1700 worth of my parts now lol. saturday i'll do my install! i'm pumped. gonna wash the car friday night though because it looks absolutely disgusting...then saturday i'll pop the new rims on, wipe down the soap from the rims from when they put the tires on, and she'll be ready for a photoshoot!
it is the prying out the lugs from the sockets afterwards that is the hassle....this is why I like locks for each lug. Nothing stops the pros but for the cost/effort/reward I like locks.
when I run my winter shoes (no tpms) a piece of tape over the warning light and you have to hit reset on the msg center at each start up.
I work offroad with my new job and am constantly having to pressure wash the inside of my rims from mud build up. I would never have thought to wax them, going to have to give that a try.
I use Turtle ice but that are metal...pretty much anything the thing I like about Ice is you can put it on black plastic w/o the staining you can get with other types of wax I wax mine inside/outside when I rotate the tires.
so really dumb question time, my first time putting on new tires...these all have treads that go the same direction, right? lol like any tire can go anywhere obviously right?
Most ties can go anywhere but some tires are directional and it matters which way they face. I would think if they were directional they should have an arrow indicating which way they should go.
THEY'RE ON!

man i love how these bad boys look! so the only negative was the black lugnuts i got, one of them was completely stripped and chewed off inside on the tread. UGH. so i called AM, and they're shipping me out a replacement, but I asked the guy if using my stock one would harm it any because when I looked, yeah it's a bit bigger than the others, but it's not touching any part of the rim or like rubbing finish off...he said he never heard that before, and he's not sure why the guy who emailed me from AM said i absolutely needed new lugnuts, but whatever. they're shipping me out replacements.
in terms of rubbing, on left turn full lock, no rub at all, and on right turn full lock, SLIGHT rub, but if you let off like way less than an inch, the rub stops, so honestly, for the time being, i'm not putting on the steering stops. i guess i got lucky.
also TPMS synced up no problem, nice and easy. overall, awesome project and I love how they look. taking turns at higher speeds is a little easier too! guess it's the wider tire. and my speedo is pretty much identical to beforehand; the tire diameter is only slightly bigger so instead of like 50 mph it's 50.3 mph so it's fine.
