I have a 2011 Mustang V6 Automatic with 150000 miles and full service records. Older Guy driving it didnt really beat on it a whole lot. Something thats bothered me since Ive got it was occasionally when i give it some gas the RPMs jump way up and the car doesnt move accordingly. It will also stay at 1300-1500 RPMs sometimes and sound a little rough when i dont have my foot on the gas but im cruising. Its been getting worse now and its starting to scare me while Im driving. Heres the kicker, ive taken it to a transmission specialist twice, two different mechanics, and they cant find anything wrong with it. I even got a transflush. The one mechanic did say my rear left caliper's piston isnt fully disengaging and is somewhat constantly braking to an extent. I dont know if theres some correlation between that and the RPMs occasionally shooting up on me. Another thing is after a longer drive (30min to an hour) when I bring the car to a stop and put it in park theres a deep 2-3 second rattle where the RPMS go down and up a little (between 700-1000) then the rattle stops. Can you guys please help Ive taken it to different mechanics and they cant figure it out

You said full service records, when does it show a plug change? It also sounds like you need to clean the throttle body and/or the MAF as well as pull fuse 47 for a 1/2 hour or so, that gets rid of the adaptive learning on the trans.

Assuming you are right and it is a transmission problem you may need to bring it to a Ford dealer. The 6R80 is a complex modern computer controlled device that likely needs diagnosed by Ford with their software. The brake can't be "always on" or you would smell it burning. But i would get it looked at too. Good luck

MAF is mass air flow sensor. I also have a 2011 v6 but only 19k miles on it. I also have some odd issues that seem to be transmission related. I have determined my issue is most likely with the shift solenoids. There are things called Technical Service Bulletins. Similar to recalls but not like recalls. Basically just acknowledges a known issue and how to fix it. Check out TSB 11-11-11 that may be part of your issue. But what you say about giving it gas the RPMs going up but the car not moving. That sounds like a tranny issue to me.

I also experience the rattle you describe. It is very odd. I would consider it more of a vibration where like the whole car shakes a little or vibrates. But it seems to happen when I put the car in park after driving as well. I have never noticed the rpms go up or down with it tho. One thing I have noticed is the vibration also happens when you try to roll the windows up when they are already up. It is really weird.

Friend of mine has an 06 F150 and was having these same issues. Turned out to be the solenoids on the transmission. Your problem sounds just like his. Your getting good advise from the people above. Have your trouble codes read, you'll probably have to go to a good quality shop to have it fixed. My friend did not go to a Ford dealer but found a shop that knows Fords and does quality work. Fixed the both for $400 and change. He's happy now and no more Idle issues.

Solenoids more then likely one way to check is to see switch from drive to reverse. But the thing is turn the car off and back on and don't move it yet switch between reverse neutral and drive a couple of times while sitting still. Then move the car like 5 feet and if you have a weird sound coming from the car then it's the solenoid. This literally happened to me and I took it to the dealer and and I had 40k on my car
