2011 Mustang Numbers being reported confirmed

Couple of sources.

Quote:
To Ford Mustang fans, 5.0 means a lot, and the new 2011 5.0-liter V8 Mustang will deliver 412 hp, company officials said on Thursday. The information was supposed to be embargoed until Dec. 28, but news leaked out shortly after the announcement in Dearborn, Mich.

That is the question of questions. From 05 on up the rear end has looked like a last minute scramble to get done. The next revisions reported to be in 2014...I hope they start from the back and work their way forward so the camaros of the world can have something pretty to look at for a change.

I agree the new one is the worst, however the 05-09 all looked unfinished to me.

The 5.0-liter Mustang's main competitors are the Chevrolet Camaro SS, rated at 426 hp, and the Dodge Challenger SRT8, which makes 425 hp.

Hopefully no one actually follows that link...that is just plain putrid filth.

Now, if they want to read the truth on the matter....they should follow both of the links in my first post...specially the second one.

Cool Re: 2011 Mustang Numbers being reported confirmed

Quote:
Im curious to know how much HP this engine will be able to handle after mods.
Although it still isn't quite clear as to what the internals will be (we should find that out come the Detroit Auto Show), I would imagine that the new 5.0L platform for the 2011 should have much of the solid internals, if not better, that the '94-'95 models did. But that's just hear-say, so do not quote me on that one. But it would be foolish of Ford to not make the new 5.0 as mod-friendly as the current and past Mustangs are. Still, even at the supposed stock levels of 412hp is pretty impressive. Remember back 10 years ago when even 300hp could only be acheived in a mustang if you modified it's engine components? or even 15 years ago when 400hp was mind boggeling! I feel kind of foolish for ordering a 2010 with the current engine. In closing, I'm sure that the 5.0 will be able to handle much higher hp levels than the current 4.6 litre.

Would love to see the look on the little ricer's faces seeing "5.0" on the side of a new Mustang. They would probably think twice about trying to drag it out with you. LOL

p.s. yes I do know the difference between a ricer and a modified sport-compact,

well, there you have it folks, think I'm gonna go kill myself now. my little puny 2010 is gonna be begging for mercy against the new 5.0, but before I do, think I'm gonna kastrangulate and kertackle punch my sales rep repeatedly until he switches my order to the 2011.

I'm assuming that the 2011 gt will also have 160 on the speedo instead of the 150.

sounds like a safe assumption to me, although it would make more sense if it read 170 or higher being that it's cranking nearly 100 more horses and a six speed.

Well this is the news I was waiting for as well. I talked to the military cars sale rep today to get a price quote on a 2010 the way I want it. Once I have that I'll wait and see what the prices will be like for the 2011. If it is not a crazy jump in price then I'll look into getting the 2011. It should be one awesome car. I feel sorry for the dealerships as I think they will have problems selling the 2010's they have at the moment.

GT wise, yea but the mustang was king back in 03 (and has been since) had more hp than the new 5.0 motor (as currently stated)

Re: 2011 Mustang Numbers being reported confirmed

true. But still, I've always been impressed with the aftermarket versatility of the Mustang. A lot of aftermarket companies have had to work with the 4.6 litre for some time now (internals may have changed a little but not by much), but with going back to the 5.0 (yes it is a different engine from the last one back in '94) it's gonna definitely change up the game a little. It's still going to be interesting to see a little honda ricer try pulling up to a new mustang with "5.0" on the fender LOL.

03 was "390". However, none truely came with "390" at the crank. In fact, many came with close to "390" at the wheels stock. That "390" number was for insurance purposes.

A lot of people think that ford underated that 390 on purpose because of screw up with the 99 cobras lack of advertised HP. I think they trying to make amends.
