"NEED HELP" about my 2010GT Premium purchase.

Hey guys.
Im feeling a little regretful about purchasing my new 2010GT Premium 2 weeks ago. Dont get me wrong the car is great and I really like it, but with the new 2011 5.0 coming out soon I am thinking that I should have waited. I need someone to help me justify that my purchase was still a good buy. I dont know how much the new 2011's can be discounted at the dealer but I was able to get $4000 of the window sticker of the one I just bought. Maybe that is enough to make me feel better about it, or not.

Re: "NEED HELP" about my 2010GT Premium purchase.

Well, I am sure that when the 2011's come out, for about the first 6-12 months you can expect a dealer markup on them. When the 05's came out, dealers were marking them up 5-20k. With the hype about the new 5.0, I would expect 10-20k dealer markups on them. Those that have more money than brains will rush right out and buy one showing the other dealers they can keep their markups.

So, you can take the fact that there will be no discounts on 2011's and there will more than likely be markups and use that as happiness.

Also, you usually don't want to buy the first year of a big change in a car. So, sit on your 2010 until the 2012's come out and then you could always trade it in after all the kinks get worked out in the 2011's. Also, waiting for the 2012's will give the aftermarket a chance to catch up and give a wider selection of mods to make to the car.

You got a good deal $4k off sticker. I had friend that went to buy a '10 and they wouldn't even negotiate.

Re: "NEED HELP" about my 2010GT Premium purchase.

That was one of the main reasons that I purchased it. I was originally just looking and before you know it I got a good trade value for our ford escape and then negotiated from there. They almost lost me though. I was ready to walk out over $8 dollars a month until they finally gave in. Total negotiating took about 2 hrs.

Re: "NEED HELP" about my 2010GT Premium purchase.

Dozer look at it this way. if you wait to get to the 2011, your gonna pay over stick price for sure, feel ripped off and there are no new mods for that car.

you get your 2010 and there is a HUGE aftermarket out there for parts. you already got a great deal! put that money you saved towards upgrades bro! theres nothing that NOT avalible for the S197s and your engine is exactally the same.

you said you saved 4000, bro thats enough for a whole new setup for an exhuast system, gears, a tune, add another grand and you can get yourself a new set of rims and tires too! i think you made a good choice!

we wont even know if theres no bugs and what not in the 2011 till almost 2012.

enjoy your car!

Re: "NEED HELP" about my 2010GT Premium purchase.

I went with the 2010 GT Premium b/c I got 0% financing and a nice price break. That way, I could afford to drop in a supercharger. My 2010 will actually be faster than a 2011, and I paid roughly the same, and maybe less if some of these guys are right about mark-ups.

Re: "NEED HELP" about my 2010GT Premium purchase.

Actually that was my thinking when buying my 2010. I can save a little bit and purchase a S/C but still have a lower monthly payment than buying a 2011.

well im not going to lie... the 2010 is far inferior to the 2011 performance wise... just how it is... You might get lucky and get a 2011 for near window price~ I would have waited, but if you enjoy your 2010 with 100hp less then thats all that matters.

Just take that 4 grand you saved off the window sticker, and buy a used blower setup

Re: "NEED HELP" about my 2010GT Premium purchase.

Precisely the way I am thinking now. A proven 4.6L engine supercharged, minimum of 21hp 10tq more than a 2011 GT for around the same price. Oh and that pretty whinny sound at no extra charge.

I plan on enjoying the hell out of my 2010 until about 2014, when I will see what the 2014 Anniversary Car looks like and go from there....and yeah, we will know about bugs in the new 5.0 power plant by then.

Until you want to upgrade it

DO NOT feel regret for buying the 2010, look at it this way, there are 5 YEARS worth of performance parts out there that can push your car to over a THOUSAND HORSES if you really want to, you could probably get about 600 horses out of it with a bolt on supercharger (I believe there's Saleen's putting that much out) for LESS than the price of a 2011.

So 2011, yes, bad ***, BUT the performance market isn't there yet and there are plenty of 500 plus HP GTs with the 4.6 out there so it's really not a bad thing, if anything, you have the new bodystyle with a motor that has more potential so I think you're actually better off.

Hey dozer, you are feeling the same as me. I too got an excellent discount and needed a lower payment. Good thing tho is that mustang is a widely loved car so we can play with the tweaks and tunes and mods and make some good memories and money back later when selling it and as earlier stated by a smart member we can wait for the kinks to be worked out and then upgrade and start all over again. Lol

Re: "NEED HELP" about my 2010GT Premium purchase.

I'm in the same boat with my '10 GT Premium. Reading this thread makes me feel much better.

I got mine for $300 below invoice which was about $4500 under sticker plus big discounts on both the warranty and extended service. I doubt I would have been able to swing that with the '11. Besides, I have my car NOW instead of later - plus it has every single feature I wanted (electronics package, track package, 401a spec red interior, comfort package, security package, HID ...). If I had to shop for a '11 I doubt I'd be able to find exactly what I wanted just sitting on the lot - I'd probably have to compromise with some features.

Presently I'm looking at getting that Saleen, Whipple or KB.
